A black object, shaped like a triangle, rises vertically over a mountain ridge. It stops in mid-air, remains motionless for about 20 seconds, and then shoots toward the horizon. You can’t hear any engine or see an exhaust trail. The scene seems straight out of a science fiction movie, but it is part of an official US report on an unidentified aerial phenomenon. The Pentagon has just published new documents that collect the testimony of federal agents who claim to have witnessed the episode in 2026near a sensitive facility in the western United States.
The documentation is part of the seventh installment of the PURSUE program, an initiative promoted by the Donald Trump Administration to declassify government files on unidentified anomalous phenomena, known as UAP for its acronym in English. The publication, published on October 23, includes 28 PDF documents. These include a memo from the War Department’s All Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) and a witness statement collected by the FBI.
According to the documents, the agents were alerted by a third colleague who was at a nearby observation post. When they turned their attention to the horizon, they saw a dark object on a line of mountains, silhouetted against the evening light. They described it as a matte black triangular structure, with no visible control surfaces or details. They estimated that it was between 2.7 and 4.6 meters in wingspan, between 1.8 and 2.7 meters deep and between 30 and 60 centimeters thick.
The behavior they attributed to him was the most striking. The AARO memo reports that the object ascended between 60 and 90 meters vertically, without tilting or rocking. He then remained suspended in the air for about 20 seconds. Finally, it accelerated and disappeared from sight in just a few seconds. The witness account mentions that the object went from 0 to fighter jet speed in an instant: “he traveled about 2.4 kilometers in approximately three seconds”, which would be equivalent to a speed close to 2,900 km/h. Witnesses also described the sound as non-existent and claimed that there were no visible exhaust gases. However, there is an important nuance: the FBI document points out that, when observed with an infrared device, the object appeared hotter than the environment and had a uniform thermal signature.
The next morning, according to the report, The canyon towards which the object had disappeared was inspected. No remains, marks on the ground or damaged vegetation were found. Nor has a photograph or direct recording been published that allows the shape and movements described to be independently verified. The images included in the FBI file are illustrative reconstructions of the sighting, not photographs of the object. The case joins other reports of triangular objects and unexplained lights collected by US authorities. AARO considers that the episode deserves further investigation due to the similarities between the shape and movements described and those of other sightings in the west of the country.. This decision is not equivalent to confirming that it is an unknown technology, much less an extraterrestrial spacecraft.
The importance of the new installment is not that it solves the mystery of UFOs, but that it makes public testimonies and documents that were not available before. An unidentified aerial phenomenon is, precisely, one whose nature has not been established with the existing data. This could be a drone, a conventional artifact observed in unusual circumstances, a misperception, or something that requires further analysis. Without independent measurements, direct images or physical evidence, none of these explanations can be proven. The black triangle remains, for now, in that uncomfortable zone between testimony and evidence. The documents allow us to know what the agents said they had seen; They still do not allow us to know what was really flying over that ridge.
