“If they want to go to elections, let them say so”

And now, to exhaust the legislature. It is the main wish of the national leadership of the Popular Party. Yesterday, Alberto Núñez Feijóo He urged Vox to have a clear vision so as not to block the succession of Carlos Mazón, who a year after the Dana tragedy, which also devastated his political credit, intoned “I can’t take it anymore.” But Santiago Abascal He avoided answering a very simple question: what will his group do when the time for the investiture arrives?

Despite the insistence of the press, he did not want to answer the question and, however, chose to criticize Feijóo, for “giving a scapegoat” and give the left “an oxygen tank.” Although the demoscopy is stubborn: the oxygen cylinder, rather, was the continuity of the Valencian president. In the PP there are those who ironically: “Well, let me sign him.”

With Mazón’s departure, Génova is pleased: “Feijóo closes a crack.” Although the horizon looks uncertain. The only certain thing, the sources consulted by LA RAZÓN emphasize, is that there will not be a new pact between PP and Vox to invest Juanfran Pérez Llorcathe chosen substitute. «There is a Budget agreement that is fully valid, it gives stability to the community. That pact was not between two individual and independent people, but between two parties politicians.

If there is no “non-compliance worth reviewing”, the popular leadership understands that the project “has all the validity in the world” and, therefore, binds “all Vox deputies.” And this is because they would not have to do anything more than “vote for another candidate.”

Another different thing, the popular ones clarify, is that Vox proposes other scenarios out of political tactics, out of convenience. “If they want to go to elections, let them say so.” As this newspaper published, one of the options that were studied before communicating the outcome of the political crisis in the region was the ballot box. But Feijóo, like the majority of the leadership, preferred to avoid them.

The reason: “If there is a territory that cannot have a government stopped for four months, it is the Valencian Community.” And even less so when, in the current year, “there are budgets in force.” The electoral logic, they say, is in the face of a paralysis like the one experienced in Extremadura.

The waters between PP and Vox have been troubled for some time. Feijóo’s team does not want to talk about “civil war”, but they do grant a simile: “We would be Zelensky and they would be Putin, because they are the ones who launch daily aggression at us.”

The context does not seem the most conducive to starting a negotiation that brings about a peaceful transition in the Valencian Community. In Genoa they trust in the good relationship that Pérez Llorca, as the party’s number two in the region, has established with Vox. Many of the agreements have been forged by him.

Even so, the electoral horizon is by no means ruled out. Once Mazón’s resignation has been formalized, the clock has been activated and the time for the investiture session is counting down. At the moment, there has been no contact between PP and Vox and in Genoa they say that, when it comes, it should be at the regional level. In Madrid, those who lead the conversation are Miguel Telladosecretary general, and Kiko Méndez MonasterioAbascal’s court advisor.

In the event that Vox forces new elections, the popular people believe that it would be blinded by the demoscopic spring that it is going through. Precisely, in the Valencian Community, where it has the best prospects in all of Spain, with a range of up to 20 deputies in the Cortes. In this regard, Feijóo’s team warns: «It hits them like this in a context with Mazón as a candidatebut the polls do not rule out that there is an advance because Vox does not support the PP. From there, if they decide to block, we will see how it affects Vox’s prospects.

In the national leadership they reiterate that all the interest in moving forward with the Valencian legislature is due to the need to finish the reconstruction work in the areas affected by the damage. However, there are obvious obstacles: the absence, to date, of a headliner.

At an organic level, party leaders demand that the date of a regional congress be set as soon as possible, which would not be extraordinary, because it has been pending since last spring. «We cannot assume what we will do at the organic level without knowing what we will do at the institutional level. We are going to solve the institutional part. When we finish that, everything else.
