In the midst of a fever in whichEveryone wants to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI), the clear question is how to integrate it correctly and ethically”, without opening up to more cybersecurity risks, said Edward Rodríguez, co-president of the Puerto Rico Information Technology Cluster (PRITC).
At this juncture, he pointed out that organizations, companies and governments must “establish their data governance policy, the policy of what tools are going to be used, how they are going to use them and what the accesses are.”
To address these challenges, learn about what’s new in computing, and connect with other industry members, Rodríguez announced that the PRITC is holding its CIO & IT Leadership Conference summit this Thursday, April 30, at the Miramar Convention Center.
The Fusionworks firm executive also indicated that, while the AI fever does open new doors to cyberattacks, even automated ones, it also helps to reinforce security shields.
Along these lines, Keren Henríquez, member of the PRITC board, warned that attack prevention systems will never be enough if they do not invest in training for personnel.
As an example, he recalled that in government agencies, attackers have been able to hijack systems because someone “clicked on a link” in an email with malicious content.
“There we have a great opportunity to educate, to help people identify which email may be suspicious. It is very important, because they are almost always the first entry points”, stressed the president of Next Level Innovations.
Recognizing the importance of the educational component, the spokespersons shared that the event agenda includes learning sessions, grouped under what they call “IT Academy.”
“What makes the difference in this edition is that we are emphasizing the concept of cybersecurity and educating. One of the main objectives of the PRITC is to educate in terms of the latest technology. We are not going to talk in abstract terms, but in practical terms,” Rodríguez added.
There will also be talks and interactive workshops on specific uses of AI to increase productivity and automate business processes, detailed in writing the co-president of the IT Cluster, Gretchen Molina.
Among the invited speakers, Martín Castillo, from Hewlett Packard Enterprise, was mentioned; Mike Hyzy and Douglas Vargo for CGI; Guillermo Caicedo and Michelle Santibañez, from Microsoft; and Marco Bando, from I Tech PR.
‘It is a multi-sector event – government, private companies of all sizes and students. It is focused on solutions,” said Henríquez.
In addition, attendees – which are estimated to exceed 500 people – will have access to a pavilion of exhibitors of products and services relevant to the sector.
The CIO & IT Leadership Conference begins at 8:00 am
