Video game and comics week: Darkest Dungeon 2 and Bajo el Aire, other protagonists of the cultural sphere

We face new summer days full of premieres in the interactive entertainment sector and, as usual, we have prepared a complete compilation with the video game that will be launched between July 15 and 19, 2024 for Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo SwitchPlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, mobile devices and PC, including the most anticipated titles alongside other lesser-known projects.

To get a taste of the matter, these days the spotlight is shared between the role-playing and strategy game developed by Red Hook Studios ‘Darkest Dungeon II‘, for PC, SEGA’s party title ‘Guardians of the Night -Kimetsu no Yaiba- Go for it!‘ and ‘Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition‘. But other interesting options are also published such as ‘Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn‘, ‘Flock‘, ‘EA Sports College Football 25‘, ‘Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess‘ and ‘Deliver Us The Moon‘. Darkest Dungeon 2 – Released July 15, 2024

We start the week with the debut of a role-playing and strategy game developed and published by Red Hook Studios for PC. The title was already available on PC and now comes in its final version for consoles. This is the next installment of the 2016 roguelike, in which our mission is to lead a group of heroes to prevent the apocalypsewhich offers an effective turn-based combat system, this time through a dark and gothic world aboard a carriage.

Overview: “Darkest Dungeon II is a cursed roguelike adventure. Gather a party, equip your carriage, and explore decaying landscapes in a last-ditch attempt to prevent the apocalypse. But be careful, as the greatest dangers you’ll face may come from within…”

Guardians of the Night -Kimetsu no Yaiba- Go for it! – Released July 16, 2024

Platforms: PS4 PS5 Xbox One Xbox Series X/S PC

‘Kimetsu no Yaiba- Go for it!’ It’s a party type game developed by SEGA for Nintendo Switch. Produced by Aniplex, its developers promise a dynamic world designed as if it were a board game. Each board features locations from the anime series, such as Mount Fujikasane and Asakusa. However, the ruleset boasts a few twists. For example, as the time changes from day to night, the spaces on each board change their effects, promoting different opportunities for players to uncover as they plan their next move.

Synopsis: “The anime Guardians of the Night: Kimetsu no Yaiba is transformed into a virtual board game. Enjoy events and mini-games with up to 4 people, online or locally.”

Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition – Released July 18, 2024

Platforms: Switch

‘Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition’ is an action platform game developed and published by Nintendo for Switch that offers more than 150 challenges chosen from thirteen different titles of the iconic consoleincluding great classics like ‘Super Mario Bros.’, ‘Donkey Kong, Metroid’, or ‘The Legend of Zelda’, in which you can compete to get the best times and scores locally or against players from around the world.

Overview: “Play like it’s 1990 and put your speedrunning skills to the test in over 150 challenges in Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition for Nintendo Switch. Each challenge recreates an unforgettable moment chosen from 13 different NES games, including classics like Super Mario Bros. 3, The Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong and Metroid.”

Paper releases

In the publishing scene we open the week with ‘Under the Air‘, a fantastic dystopia directed by Osamu Tezuka. Next, we delve into ‘Earth Color Stories‘, an intimate story that narrates the discoveries of the innocent Ihwa, as well as a new edition of one of the most important works of the Korean Kim Dong-Hwa. We conclude the review of recommended readings with ‘Dynasty of X / Powers of X‘, a Marvel Omnibus signed by Jonathan Hickman, creator of ‘Gods’, with the extraordinary drawing by Pepe Larraz and RB Silva.

Both They share their daily experiences while constantly trying to defend themselves from the gossip of their malicious neighbors. As time goes by, the mother watches her daughter grow older without being able to do anything about it and fears that the bond that keeps them together will deteriorate. With this work, Kim Dong-Hwa, considered in Korea one of the most relevant manhwa authors of his generation, manages to transport us in space-time, dealing with universal themes such as femininity and beauty with a particular sensitivity.
