In addition to all of the above, Veolia drives decarbonization through energy efficiency solutions and affordable, local renewable energy. In this sense, the project stands out Ecoenergies Barcelonawhich it has developed together with the city council through BSM, to recover residual energy and supply heating, industrial refrigeration, air conditioning and domestic hot water to buildings in Barcelona and L’Hospitalet de Llobregat.
Regarding the renewable sector, the company is the the only energy manager in Spain that integrates the entire biomass supply chainfrom the forest to the final facilities. To do this, it uses forestry, agricultural and urban pruning waste to produce renewable energy and also prevent fires, carrying out forest conservation work. Today, Veolia manages more than 250,000 tons of biomass per year with SURE certification.
Likewise, Veolia develops solutions for geothermal that use subsoil heat to provide heating, cooling and hot water constantly, without depending on the weather. In 2025, this technology prevented the emission of more than 800 tons of CO₂equivalent to the annual absorption of 42,000 trees.
