This Spanish company launches the first satellites with green propulsion

One of the most important elements of a satellite is its propulsion system, the person responsible for performing key maneuvers during its useful life, from reaching its final orbit after launch, correcting its trajectory, Maintain your orientation, avoid collisions with space garbage or even exorbing at the end of the mission so as not to leave waste in space. In short, no propulsion, many satellites could not fulfill their function or operate safely. The problem is that the vast majority of these systems are polluting.

Now a Spanish company, Arkadia Space, has begun to successfully operate its green propulsion system in space, marking a historical milestone for the Spanish and European space sector. The propulsion system, called Dark, was launched on March 15 aboard a satellite of the D-Aorbit company, during the SPACEX TRANSPORTER MISSION.

Since then, the system has demonstrated optimal performance in real operating conditions, validating the technology developed by Arkadia in recent years. In this way, technology has not only proven viable, but also safe, reliable and efficient. In addition, all system management, From engines control to data collection and communications with the satellite, it has been performed with software and electronics developed entirely in Spain. The software manages the operation of engines, data collection, temperature regulation and communications

The satellite, which uses high concentration hydrogen peroxide fuel, has been designed to Offer a sustainable alternative to traditional motors based in fuels teitherXicos.

The mission has also served to successfully validate all the components of the propulsion system developed by Arkadia Space. From the engines, responsible for generating the necessary thrust for orbital maneuvers, to fuel tanks.

This mission positions Arkadia Space and Spain, as The first European company that has demonstrated in orbit a propulsion system based on hydrogen peroxide. At a key geopolitical moment for European spatial autonomy, Arkadia, a company founded just 5 years ago, is positioned as a new strategic propulsion provider for the continent.
