The AEMET warns that a DANA in the Alboran Sea will unleash locally strong storms over half of Spain this Saturday

The AState Meteorological Agency has issued a special warning this Saturday due to the forecast that an isolated depression at high levels, located over the Sea of Alboranstrongly destabilizes the atmosphere of a good part of the peninsular territory during the Saturday April 25.

The combination of that DANA with the cold air remaining in the upper layers of the troposphere it will serve as fuel for the growth of storm clouds that will distribute moderate intensity showers strong over a very wide geographical range, with special impact on the main mountain barriers and the two plateaus.

The systems Central and Beticothe mountain range Cantabrian and the Pyrenees will concentrate the greatest probability of stormy downpours, according to the analysis of the synoptic maps released by the agency.

To these areas will be added large regions of the northern plateau and the center of Andalusiawhere convective cells could present prominent electrical activity.

The instability, furthermore, will not be limited to these preferred areas, since the models suggest that the storms could spread more dispersed towards Estremadura and towards the rest of the southern plateau, thus covering a considerable portion of the Spain inside.

Turbulent early morning in Melilla and the southeast coast

Before the daytime warming activate storm cores in the afternoon, the first half of the day will leave weak or moderate rainfall on the coasts of the southeast of the peninsula and in Melilla.

In the autonomous city, in fact, the showers may reach locally strong intensity and burst accompanied by a storm as early as early morning, a phenomenon that AEMET directly linked to the proximity of the DANA alboranica.

Meanwhile, in the afternoon, a flow with a northern component will drag low clouds towards the Cantabrian coast, darkening the skies in that coastal strip with no significant precipitation expected.

Beyond the stormy chapter, the day will be marked by a decline of the maximum temperatures in the Eastern Cantabrianwhile in the rest of the country they will remain without major changes or will experience slight increases.

The minimums, for their part, will rise in the Iberian system and in the northeast quadrant, and will decrease slightly in the other regions.

In the Canary Islands, the thermometer will barely oscillatewith maximums in slight decline and minimums in slight increase, on a day with cloudy skies and weak drizzles on the islands of greatest relief. The haze will persist in the eastern third of the peninsula and in the Balearic Islands, where visibility could be seen reduced in some sections.

The wind, generally weak and with an easterly component in the Peninsula and Balearic Islandswill roll north in Galicia and the Cantabrianand it will be moderate with strong intervals in the Strait and the southeastern coasts.
