The AEMET activates alerts for a new DANA that will leave heavy rains, storms and snow

In the last days Low temperatures and night frosts have dominated the meteorological panorama in Spain. This Thursday, rain and snow will appear in various areas of the eastern peninsula and the Balearic Islands. An Isolated Depression at High Levels (DANA) will leave showers and storms which can be locally strong, extending until Friday.

Significant rainfall is expected in the north of Alicante and south of Valenciawhere 70-80 liters per square meter will be exceeded. Besides, Snow will appear in various parts of the Valencian Community, Aragon and Catalonia.

Ten communities on alert by the AEMET

The forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) indicates that Ten communities are under a yellow warning due to minimum temperatures of up to 6 degrees below zero, heavy rains, snowfall and rough seas.. In Aragon, the three provinces are at the yellow level due to minimum temperatures of 4 to 6 degrees below zero and due to snowfall that could accumulate 5 centimeters in 24 hours areas such as Gúdar and Maestrazgo (Teruel). These quantities are expected above 900-1,000 meters and could affect Bajo Aragón.

Heavy rain and snow in the Valencian Community

The Valencian Community has a warning for heavy rains in all the provinces, which could leave up to 20 liters per square meter in one hour accompanied by storm and small hail. The cold will be intense in the southern interior of Alicante, with minimums of 4 degrees below zero, and in the northern interior of Castellón, where temperatures of up to 6 degrees below zero are expected. Other notices in Catalonia and Andalusia

In Catalonia, with the exception of Tarragona, the yellow warning for cold weather remains in place, with minimum temperatures that will range between 6 and 4 degrees below zero.. Instability increases on Friday
