The Board extends the agreement with public universities until 2030 to promote digital skills

The Junta de Castilla y León, through the Ministry of Mobility, Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence, and the four public universities of the Community, Burgos, León, Salamanca and Valladolid, have renewed the collaboration protocol on digital skills until 2030.

In this way, continuity is given to a first protocol, which was signed in September 2022 with a validity of 4 years, and due to the interest of the parties in continuing to collaborate in the promotion of digital skills of citizens and members of the university community beyond the effective date of the protocol, the extension has been agreed for a period of four additional years. The new expiration date will be September 16, 2030.

Collaboration with universities also makes it possible to bring the training and certification of these skills closer to the university level and contribute to students being able to accredit increasingly relevant skills for their incorporation into the labor market.

This collaboration is part of the actions carried out by the Board regarding citizens’ digital skills. Among them is tuCertiCyLthe official and free digital skills certification system of Castilla y León, based on the European DigComp framework, which allows citizens to accredit their knowledge and skills in the use of digital technologies.

The certification is aimed at citizens of Castilla y León over 14 years of age and seeks, among other objectives, to improve their digital training and promote their employability. The tests evaluate the 21 digital competencies grouped into five areas.

Collaboration with universities makes it possible to bring this accreditation closer to the university environment and reinforce the recognition of students’ digital skills. Currently, tuCertiCyL informs about the possibility of obtaining ECTS credits with its certificates at the universities of Burgos, León, Salamanca and Valladolid.
