Last August the announcement was made in the Official State Gazette: The ministry headed by Jordi Hereu will allocate 140 million euros to the development of new facilities for those industries that still largely depend on fossil fuels.
Of these 140 million, 90 of them will be distributed as subsidies and the rest will come in the form of loans.
The purpose will be to renew the facilities of tractor projects that comply with what is stated in Article 10 of the Bases Orderwhose requirements include, for example, not depending on fossil fuels throughout its production process, except for starting the installation or emergency equipment.
Applications to participate in this new PERTE decarbonization call may be submitted until September 26, 2024. Regarding the temporal scope, it is required that the investments presented in the aid applications be completed by March 31, 2026.

In this way, it is intended to make a more efficient and decarbonized manufacturing industry and make the use of renewable energy easier and more accessible for some intensive industries.
This is the case, for example, of the thermal energystill very dependent on natural gas for the large doses of electricity it requires.
Also the use of petroleum products remains high, although, fortunately, the use of renewable thermal energy is increasingly gaining ground.
Its application is very visible in some sectors such as paper, steel and other metals, chemicals and other mineral productswhich may require large energy consumption and, therefore, require new developments and facilities to update them.
According to Hereu’s words, “the PERTE of Industrial Decarbonization is a key initiative in the drive towards a more sustainable economyfocusing on the reduction of carbon emissions in the industrial sector through the use of innovative technologies and eco-efficient practices.
In this sense, also this summer the proposal for 97.5 million subsidy for the decarbonization of the manufacturing industry through up to 14 projects.
