The tense situation that continues to be experienced in Ceuta after having completed a month of the massive entry of approximately 70,000 migrants through the borders with Morocco has caused a call, in more than 260 Spanish municipalitiesdemonstrations for the autonomous city. These will take place this Wednesday September 2coinciding with Ceuta Day, from 8:00 p.m..
According to “Europa Press”, the ‘For Ceuta’ initiative It originated on social networks, where the call received the support of thousands of citizens. Likewise, it has been supported by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), as well as by different town councils throughout the territory. In total, more than 260 localities will gather to show their support for the autonomous city that is located going through a migration crisis.
María José García-Pelayo, the president of FEMP, has invited all town councils to participate in the demonstrations. Likewise, on the website of the call, it states that the most effective thing would be for “there to be only one concentration per city, so that join as many people as possible“However, not all municipalities have responded in the same way to this call.
There will be calls both by citizen and institutional initiative
For this reason, from the official Por Ceuta website, they wanted to make a distinction between the calls that have been promoted by citizens, associations or entities, which appear as a golden point; those that have been promoted by municipalities or political parties, represented with a bronze dot; and those spread on social networks, without having been verified, with a red dot.
Despite this distinction, Many of the most important cities in Spain have accepted the FEMP call and they have called rallies in some of the most important points of their cities. The common time of the demonstrations will be 8:00 p.m., except in the Canary Islands and Ceuta, where they will begin at 7:00 p.m..
