There are controls that are taken out of the box and used as is, but Victrix has been proposing a different way of playing for some time. Your family Pro BFG allows you to disassemble part of the device and rearrange the controls according to the preferences of each player, a concept that Turtle Beach It is maintained in the new Reloaded, although it now presents improvements in the sticks and triggers, as well as a renewed module for fighting games. On this occasion we have had the opportunity to thoroughly test the edition Fortnite Drift for PS5, PS4 and PC. But what exactly does a controller with these characteristics offer and to what extent can it be customized?
Box design and content
To start, the box comes quite well stocked and, in addition to the controller, includes a hard carrying case, a wireless USB receiver, a three-meter braided USB-C cable and a small tool to disassemble its modules. You will also find different sticks, crossheads and interchangeable ringsthe six-button, one-card Fightpad module that allows you to obtain the Guff outfit in ‘Fortnite’. The case is especially practical, because it allows you to store all these pieces in an orderly manner and avoids having to leave them loose in a drawer.
As for the design, this edition is inspired by Deriva, a ‘Fortnite’ character, and uses a combination of black, white and red, finished off with small gold details and motifs spread across the surface. The controller retains the overall design of the previous Pro BFG, including its 160x105x60mm dimensions and textured grips. Its 265 grams have not been uncomfortable during testing, and the layout of the buttons is familiar to any PlayStation user. In addition, it is officially licensed by PlayStation and Epic Games, although the decoration and digital content of ‘Fortnite’ are the only particularities of this edition with respect to its main functions.
A command that you can modify to your liking
Here we find the main peculiarity of the Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded, since its two front modules can be removed to rearrange controls or replaced by different parts, so we are not obliged to always use the same distribution. For example, the left module includes the analog stick and the directional pad, but simply remove it and rotate it 180 degrees to choose between a symmetrical distribution, similar to that of the DualSense, or asymmetrical, closer to that of Xbox. Something especially practical if you are used to playing on different platforms and prefer to maintain the position of the sticks that is most comfortable for you.
The right module can also be remove and replace with the Fightpada piece that has six front buttons and Kailh microswitches. It is designed primarily for fighting games and its layout is reminiscent of arcade machine controls, as it allows you to access more actions without depending on the upper triggers. Turtle Beach has also revised the position of these buttons to make them easier to use compared to the previous model.
In the case we also find four heads for the sticks of different heights and shapesthree crossheads and four rings, two circular and two octagonal. You can use, for example, a higher stick for certain shooters or choose a traditional D-pad if you prefer platform games. The process requires loosening a few small screws using the included tool, but allows you to physically modify the controller without having to purchase additional accessories.

Hall effect sticks and adjustable triggers
On a technical level, the Pro BFG Reloaded debuts its Hall effect stickswhich use magnetic sensors to record movements and reduce wear and tear on traditional mechanisms. This technology also reduces the risk of suffer the well-known driftthat problem that causes involuntary movements even when we are not touching the sticks.
The L2 and R2 triggers also use Hall effect sensors and allow choose between five positions to regulate your route. In shooters, for example, we can reduce the distance needed to shoot, but in a driving game we can maintain a wider movement to better regulate acceleration. The shortest position, called Hair-Trigger, is intended to respond to very fast presses. Added to all this are four programmable rear buttons to which we can assign different remote functions. Thus, actions such as jumping, reloading or changing weapons can be performed without removing the thumb from the right stick.
Configuration and connections
The Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded has a selector to switch between PS5, PS4 and PC and can be used wirelessly through the USB receiver or directly by cable. In wireless mode, Turtle Beach advertises a range of up to nine meters, enough to play from the couch without having to have the console nearby. If you prefer a physical connection, the three-meter cable also allows you to continue playing while the battery recharges.
In Windows we find Victrix Control Huba free application that allows you to remap buttons, regulate the dead zones of the sticks, modify the sensitivity of the triggers and save different profiles. It also offers tools to check the operation of the controls, calibrate them and update firmware. However, not all of these operations depend on the program, because the rear buttons can be configured directly from the controller, as can its three profiles. For certain functions and firmware updates we will need a computer, since PlayStation does not have an equivalent application on the console.

As for audio, the controller includes a 3.5mm headphone jack and integrated controls to modify the volume or mute the microphone. On PS5 it also supports PlayStation 3D audio through compatible headphones. However, on PC, when using XInput mode, the headphone jack and touchpad are disabled. In addition, it has a tournament lock function that disables the PS, Create, Options and touch panel buttons, preventing accidental presses that could interrupt a competition.
Battery and autonomy
Turtle Beach has chosen a rechargeable battery of 2,000 mAh which, according to the manufacturer, offers up to 20 hours of wireless operation. It is a fairly generous estimate for a device with these characteristics, although actual autonomy may vary depending on use and activated functions. In any case, if the battery runs out, simply connect the USB-C cable and switch to wired mode to continue playing while recharging.
The differences compared to the DualSense
Despite all its possibilities, the PlayStation version lacks vibration and it also doesn’t offer the haptic effects, adaptive triggers, or motion controls of the DualSense. We also cannot connect it directly to mobile phones via Bluetooth or easily switch between multiple wireless devices. To play wirelessly you need the USB receiver, which takes up a port on the console and may be less practical if we frequently change equipment.
Compared to the previous Victrix Pro BFG, the Reloaded revision mainly improves the stick sensors, triggers and the distribution of the Fightpad buttons, although it maintains a good part of its design and operation. Therefore, if you already have the first model and are satisfied, it may not be worth replacing it, especially since Turtle Beach sells the Hall Effect modules and the renewed Fightpad separately, which can also be installed on the original controller.

In summary
The Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded Fortnite Drift has been very comfortable for us, its controls respond really well and the interchangeable modules offer really useful options when switching between different genres. Added to this is a very complete package, well organized within its case, and the possibility of using it on both PS5, PS4 and PC without having to resort to a second controller.
Of course, we would have appreciated the vibration, adaptive triggers and motion control of the DualSense, although its absence has not clouded our user experience. If you usually play on different platforms and like to customize the layout of the buttons, the Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded is a highly recommended alternative, even taking into account its limitations.
