FC Barcelona and Valencia CF face each other this Sunday in the duel corresponding to the matchday 21 of the EA Sports LaLiga championship. The Blaugrana team returns to the Montjuic Olympic stadium with the aim of returning to three points against a team that is immersed in the relegation places.
The team led by Hansi Flick needs a league victory to rejoin the title fight. He also wants to take advantage of Atlético de Madrid’s ‘prick’ against Villarreal and, above all, not to give any more advantage to Real Madrid who, after their victory in Valladolid, are ten points ahead of the Blaugranas.
FC Barcelona is not achieving the best dynamics in the domestic championship: it has only reaped 5 points from the last 15 in playso they want to forget the setback in Getafe and continue with the good image that the culés have offered at the beginning of 2025.
The comeback in the last minute against Benfica (4-5) and consequent classification to the Champions League round of 16, the win against Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup (2-5) and the move to the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey, where precisely They will face Valencia in Mestalla, leading a season in which Barça is alive in all competitions.
Now, against Valencia they will need a victory if they want to once again become a candidate in the fight for the league.
For its part, the team led by Carlos Corberán arrives with its wounds beginning to heal. The victory against Real Sociedad (1-0) was the first in the league championship since November. The Valencian coach has given another face to the Ches, achieving three wins, one draw and only one defeat in the five games played in 2025.
Whatever happens, Valencia will end the day in relegation as it has 16 points in the box compared to the 20 where it currently stands for permanence. However, getting a point in Montjuic could be the beginning of a change of dynamic for the Valencians.
