The Euromillones draw is a transnational lottery that is played in several countries in Europe. It was created in 2004 by a lottery operators consortium, and its first raffle was held on February 13 of that year.
The objective of the Euromillones draw is to offer larger and more attractive awards than those offered in the national lotteries of each participating country. To play, participants must choose five numbers from 1 to 50 and two additional numbers, known as “stars”, from 1 to 12. The awards are distributed according to the number of successes and the numbers of the stars.
The initial consortium launched by Euromillones was composed of Lottery operators of Spain, France and the United Kingdom. Over time, other countries such as Portugal, Austria, Belgium, Ireland, Luxembourg and Switzerland, among others. Currently, Euromillones is played in a total of 13 European countries.
The Euromillones has distributed some of the largest awards in the history of lotteries in Europe, including several record boats of hundreds of millions of euros. In addition, part of the benefits obtained by the sale of tickets are allocated to social and cultural aid programs in the participating countries, which makes Euromillones also a way of contributing to the well -being of European society.
