The presence of Daniel Guzmán in the camping trip for the Puerta del Sol home has received criticism in X that recalls his 2024 conviction. The actor and director appeared alongside Xabier Fortes in a TVE connection from the Madrid square, where he explained his support for the mobilization and questioned the Government’s response.
“People are already tired, people can’t live anymore,” said Guzmán in the fragment broadcast by RTVE News. The network noted in its publication that the filmmaker had been sleeping at the campsite for several nights.
The check Captain General of the Tercios, @capTercioshared that video accompanied by a reproach. After remembering the episode for which he was convicted, he wrote “Now he intends to give lessons about housing and evictions. The perfect example of what 15MEME is”.
The condemnation that the publication remembers
The judicial precedent dates back to 2024. As reported EFEa court convicted Guzmán for a minor crime of injury by violently expelling several people who had occupied a home they owned in Madrid.
The conviction involved the payment of 950 eurosof which 600 corresponded to the fine and 350 to civil liability. Europa Press also reported that the compensation was linked to the injuries of one of the complainants.
That episode is the one that X’s account contrasts with his participation in Sol. The publication questions the coherence of the actor, although the condemnation referred to his actions during that expulsion and not to his opinions on housing policy.
The explanations given by Daniel Guzmán
Guzmán later referred to what happened in an interview. His explanation was that he planned to renovate the property so that his mother could use it. “It is not my third or fourth home”held.
The actor said that he entered with his key and took the occupants’ backpacks out to the street. He also acknowledged that during the episode “there was a struggle”. According to his version, he accepted the sentence and decided not to appeal because he considered that providing other evidence could harm the young people.
His criticism of the Government from Sol
In his television intervention from the camp, Guzmán defended that the difficulties in accessing housing affect a large part of the population. He compared the indignation of the protesters with that which led to the 15M and demanded structural reforms.
He also directed his criticism at the Executive. The filmmaker described the housing decrees as “tease” and considered the response to the demands of those protesting in the square insufficient.
The video capture also shows a community note proposal about the 2024 sentence. At the time captured in the image it appeared as pending evaluation, with the notice “Still collecting evaluations.”
