General elections 29N, live: last minute of the electoral pacts, Sánchez, Feijóo and the future of pensions

The National Political Consell of Esquerra Unida del País Valencià (EUPV), the highest governing body of the formation, has rejected with more than 75% the Compromís agreement proposal for EUPV to join its candidacy for the general elections on November 29.

In a statement, the group assures that Compromís “never had the intention of reaching an agreement with Esquerra Unida del País Valencià, neither for the general elections nor for the regional elections.”

From EUPV, they claim to be “a political force that has always opted for the unity of the left, as it has demonstrated over decades of history,” and indicate that “they have been trying for years to reach agreements with Compromís to build a long-term Valencian and Valencian project.”

In this sense, they point out that for two weeks they have been holding unilateral meetings with said formation, “which proposed an agreement under its umbrella from the first meeting without changing its proposal, which makes it impossible to make visible all the existing left-wing Valencian political formations.”

EUPV is committed to a coalition like ‘A la Valenciana’, reached for the 2019 elections and which, according to what they say, “gained the best results by making all the political formations that were part visible.”

Thus, they criticize “the constant refusal of Compromís to reach an agreement to run jointly for the entire electoral cycle.”

According to the general coordinator of EUPV, Rosa Pérez Garijo, “it is essential to build confluences with other progressive political formations, but what is not possible is to integrate ourselves into a foreign candidacy.”

“Esquerra Unida is a political organization with implementation throughout the Valencian Country, with thousands of members, more than one hundred councilors and various mayors. We can join with other political forces, but not be absorbed by them,” he defends.

Thus, from EUPV they affirm that throughout the successive meetings they have raised various proposals and all of them have been rejected, which is why the National Political Council considers that Compromís “never had the intention of reaching an agreement with Esquerra Unida del País Valencià, neither for the general elections nor for the regional elections.” EFE
