Stability will continue to dominate the weather in Spain this Monday, on a day marked by high maximum temperatures in much of the interior of the peninsula and the Canary Islandsand due to the absence of precipitation in practically the entire country.
The AEMET expect slightly cloudy or clear skies, although they will appear intervals of low clouds and morning fog banks in the Strait area, Melilla, northern Galicia, some points in the Cantabrian area, the eastern façade and the Balearic Islands.
The main wind episode will be concentrated again in the south, where The east will blow strongly in the Strait and may leave very strong gusts during the first half of the dayalthough it will tend to subside later.
Stable weather will be the general tone, with predominance of slightly cloudy or clear skies and no precipitation. The low clouds that appear during the first hours will tend to disappear as the day progresses. However, the AEMET contemplates a change in Galicia at the end of the day, when cloudiness could increase on the Atlantic coasts and produce coastal mists and fogs.
In the Canary Islands, there will be low morning clouds on the coasts, with a tendency for slightly cloudy skies. Furthermore, it will continue presence of hazewhich could reach significant concentrations in the eastern islands.
The heat intensifies and reaches 39 degrees
Maximum temperatures will rise in the northeastern half of the peninsula and the archipelagoswith increases that may be locally notable in the northeast from Galicia and the Cantabrian area. In the rest of the territory there will be few changes, although some decreases are also expected in parts of western Galicia and Alborán.
The heat will be especially intense on the southern Atlantic slope and in the eastern Canary Islands, where 35 degrees will be exceeded in large areas. Furthermore, the AEMET does not rule out that this figure is reached locally in Galicia and in the depressions of the northeast and the Cantabrian Sea.
Among the capitals, Badajoz and Ourense will reach 39 degreeswhile Seville will reach 38. Córdoba will remain at 37 and Cáceres, Girona and Toledo will reach 36. 35 degrees are also expected in Ciudad Real, Jaén, Lleida, Logroño, Lugo, Pamplona, Zaragoza and Zamora, among other capitals.
Minimum temperatures will increase in the northern third of the peninsula, while they will barely vary in the rest. The AEMET also foresees tropical nights, without dropping below 20 degreesin areas of the southwest quadrant, the southern Mediterranean coastlines and the archipelagos.
The Levante loses strength in the Strait during the day
The wind will once again be one of the highlights of the day. The east will blow strongly in the Strait, with probable very strong gustsalthough it will tend to subside throughout the day. There will also be moderate winds from the east and northeast on the coasts of Alborán, the southeast of the peninsula, the Cantabrian Sea and the north of Galicia, with an evolution that also tends to decrease.
In the rest of the territory, light winds will predominate, with eastern and southern componentsalthough moderate intervals may be recorded on the Levante coasts. In the Canary Islands, for its part, a light wind will blow from the north in the low areas and a moderate southerly component in the high areas.
The temperatures expected in the Canary Islands will also be high. Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will have between 23 and 29 degreeswhile Santa Cruz de Tenerife will move between 24 and 33 degrees.
