September marks the return to academic routine for millions of students in Spain and in many other countries. After the disconnection of the summer, the classrooms again recover the activity with teachers and students, willing to start a new training course.
Also in the business world, more and more competitive and constantly change, continuous training has become a fundamental pillar for the progress of its professionals and the fulfillment of their strategic plans.
Many of the big companies, from very different sectors, have opted for the creation of own corporate universities that have become tools for internal training, as an engine of innovation and growth, for the development of their employees.
Unlike the traditional training models, these institutions design programs as they respond to the strategic needs of each company, aligning the training skills with the strategic objectives of the corporate organization itself. This is the case of multinational sectors as diverse as McDonalds (fast food), Disney (entertainment), Google (technology), Santander (finance), telephone (telecommunications), Inditex (fashion) or naturgy (energy).
The Naturgy model
Naturgy, one of the leading companies in the energy sector in Spain, has implemented its corporate university in response to digital transformation and the sustainability challenges facing the industry. Its corporate university not only offers technical and management courses, but also encourages leadership, innovation and social responsibility.
Training programs cover from digital skills, project management, sustainability, energy efficiency, leadership and teamwork workshops. In addition, it uses mixed learning methodologies, combining face -to -face and virtual training, which facilitates employee access in different locations and encourages collaborative learning.
Naturgy Corporate University is an example of how innovation in training can boost business growth, improve employability and contribute to the transformation of the energy sector.
Training in generative
Since the middle of the last century, Naturgy has adapted his training plans to the scientific and technological advances of his time. Today it makes a commitment determined by training in generative artificial intelligence as a strategic lever of transformation and competitiveness.
Through its corporate university, the company promotes a continuous learning environment, connecting its professionals with the latest trends, technologies and best practices. The training model is structured in three academies: Digital Academy, oriented to the digitalization of profiles; New Energy, focused on managers development and the anticipation of market challenges; and Naturgy Leadership, focused on strengthening leadership as a engine of change
The head of the Naturgy Corporate University, José Luis Ausin, stands out from this project that is “a leading and reference initiative, with strategic vision, with a commitment to responsible use, integrating AI in operating systems and the development of talent, and with an approach in preparing each employee for what is coming.”
International recognition
For this project, Naturgy has been distinguished in the GlobalCcu 2025 Awards with the Gold Prize in the category ‘Implementation of generative artificial intelligence’, the company said. Specifically, this award has taken into account the project of the company’s artificial intelligence school, whose objective is to facilitate the adoption and use of AI among its professionals.
A campus with history
In 1929, the Unión Fenosa company built a hydroelectric power plant in the El Tremblo (Ávila) area and established a residential town for its employees. In the nineties the town was transformed into a business training center for its employees and in 2000, it became the headquarters of the Naturgy Corporate University. In 2013, the Campus opened its doors to companies, professionals and external educational institutions, offering an ideal environment for the training and development of events in full nature.
