Nomad choirs, a battery for globetrotter

With this Model Coros has opted strong in the market for smart watches and its DNA (its name) demonstrates it: the Nomad comes from caste, it is conceived for tour the world with the battery you havewithout a doubt one of his greatest virtues. That makes the load cable easy to forget, which is a danger (in good sense).

The Nomad has a very different architecture than past models, such as the Pace Pro, also of the Cieros Coros and, As a corollary, it is cheaper (€ 369) than its brothers from the VERTIX and Apex range And more robust than the Pace Pro choirs, and is cheaper than the Rista Verix 2S and Apex 2 range.

Although it is repetitive, the Nomad section is also in its functions, beyond maps, drums and design (of which we will talk later) distributes functionalities almost unknown to others, such as its 10 sporty fishing modes. This does not take value if design or color (available in green, brown or black), We like them too much to use it if we dedicate ourselves to running, swimming, mountaineering …

A configuration that I value a lot It is the action button, a customizable shortcut for useful functions. Outside the training, for example, activates backlight, but once in work, it allows us to alternate between the route and the data of the race or to indicate specific information on the road.

To this we must add the option of having an adventure diary: On the map we can mark points, record voice notes and indicate places of interest, and then see them in the Choir application on the map of your route.

In fact, the application allows us to synchronize the photos we take during the activity with the applicationand will be added to the route. Or if we want to explore new routes in the future, which serve us as a reminder.

On battery, exceed expectations: more than 20 days with intensive use and almost 50 hours with “beast” use, that is, with double -band GPS. If we add to that the light that is less than 50 grams (against the 80s of the Garmin Fenix 8, for example), its drums are surprised. For good. The information, location and vital constants, is also very precise and worth highlighting. Above all, for those who train and value this accuracy a lot.

The Nomad includes maps, something that its main rival (the Garmin Instinct 3) does not incorporate. To that we must add that it is, thanks to the advance of technology, it is a more precise and visible cartography. And the routes can obviously be created from the app or import them from other applications and websites. We can also save up to five points of the route and obtain weather forecasts for them. In fact, weathering time can also be seen in the sphere.

The Nomad screen maintains the visibility and sharpness of the choirs, even in extreme light conditions. Is it all good? If we are talking about a sports watch, almost yes, now as smartwatch… Does not allow connection with streaming services such as Amazon Music or Sportify (although the easy download of MP3 files). Nor allows payments with NFC. While these two sections have more to do with comfort than with functionality, for those who are not negotiable, it will be an obstacle.

Verdict: If you want a “serious” relationship with a clock, that is, you have NFC, messaging applications, permanent contact with calls and load it three times a week, it is not your watch. On the contrary, if your place of belonging is the mountain, the outside and the maps your best friends, the Nomad will meet all your goals.
