This is the new date on which the AEMET estimates that the heat wave will end

The August heat wave that hits Spain for days will not leave soon. If it was expected at the beginning that it could be deactivated this Thursday, August 7, then the Spanish Meteorology Agency (Aemet) announced that the extreme heat episode would last, at least, to Sunday 10. A few hours ago it extended that prognosis until Tuesday 12 … and now the organism has new news. And they are not good.

According to the Aemet, the heat wave of Spain will last until Wednesday, August 13. The agency has launched an update of its special notice for heat wave in which it indicates that as of Wednesday 13 “the uncertainty in the prediction is great” but the “most likely” scenario indicates “decreases” in the temperatures that “intensify” in the following days.

“Despite those descents,” the Aemet continues, “the temperatures planned for Wednesday 13 will still be abnormally high, so it is likely that this heat episode lengthens until at least, that day.”

A varapalo for a country that has already supported temperatures over 40 degrees Celsius in several points of the Peninsula for days.

Weekend forecast

In its special notice, the Aemet recalls that this Thursday will be seen in large part of the peninsular interior, mainly in the Ebro Valley, and does not provide great changes in the temperature of Friday, when it is expected to reach 40 ° C in the valleys of the Tagus, the Guadiana and the Guadalquivir.

During the weekend the slightly ascending trend of temperatures in areas of the southwest and the Ebro Valley is expected to continue and remain with few changes in the rest of the Peninsula, except in the Cantabrian area where they will go down on Saturday and rise on Sunday.

In this way, 40-42 ºC is expected to reach the valleys of the southwest quadrant and 40 ° C in the Ebro Valley and Northeast Depressions.

For Monday and Tuesday of next week, temperatures are likely to rise in the southwest and interior of the Northeast and, on the contrary, begin to descend through the north, so that abnormally warm values will continue. During these days the 41-43 ºC will probably be reached around the main depressions of the southwest and northeast peninsular quadrants.
