María Icíar Jaén Bohórquez, self-nicknamed René Perle on social networks, was not only the faithful parliamentary assistant of José Luis Ábalos.
The one who remained faithful to the former minister when, just six days after his former advisor Koldo García was arrested, he challenged the PSOE and, instead of leaving his seat as they demanded, he joined the Mixed Group of the Congress of Deputies.
Jaén Bohórquez accompanied him and began to assume new extra-parliamentary functions, with the progress of the investigation against his boss within the framework of the “Koldo case” for which, last June, he was sentenced to 24 years in prison by the Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court.
LA RAZÓN has been able to access messages in which Ábalos’ advisor, when he was already just a non-attached deputy and prosecuted for corruption, communicated with Claudia Montes, known as “Miss Asturias”, one of the friends whom, according to the Second Chamber of the TS, he “plugged” into a public company.
Jaén was, in fact, in charge of helping the woman from Gijón in drafting the letter in which she requested her resignation as a PSOE member and in which she denied that she had a relationship with Ábalos.
It was addressed to the then Secretary of Organization of Ferraz, Santos Cerdán, now also investigated in the piece of the “Koldo plot” about the rigging of public works, in exchange for the collection of illegal commissions from construction companies.
In that harsh letter, Montes defended that “it was outrageous that the equality party did not support him” and denied “having had any relationship with the world of prostitution.”
During the preparation of this letter addressed to the socialist party, which took place on April 10, 2025, Ábalos’ advisor sent him in the morning an image of a television program announcing his intervention to address the alleged harassment that he would have suffered at the hands of Koldo.
Throughout that morning, both had up to three phone calls that together lasted more than 45 minutes. In the afternoon, Miss Asturias sent him via WhatsApp the draft of the communication with which she formalized her desire to leave the party.
“Who is this writing for?” Jaén tells him, alluding to the fact that it did not include any recipient in its header. «Oops, I didn’t put it. Sorry, my head really hurts,” she justifies.
After maintaining another four-minute call, Montes asks the worker of the former Minister of Transport that “if he corrects something, it would be good to say that he asked to be put in the Equality group (of the PSOE federation in which he was a member) to pass this letter to them and (tell them) that they have not accepted me or answered me to join the group.”
After Jaén sent her a new format of the letter in Word, Miss Asturias thanks him and explains that she is going to “copy it and convert it to PDF.” “To you,” she answers.
A few minutes later, Ábalos’s former friend has doubts regarding the introduction of a word whose meaning she does not understand that appears in the text of her withdrawal from the PSOE: “Where he puts insidiousness, did you want to put insults?” «So, the word insidiousness, should I leave it? The truth is that I may be ignorant, but I don’t know what the words are,” she insists. “It’s okay,” this former advisor to the Lower House finally clarifies.
“Okay, I didn’t know her,” says the Asturian, in this regard, but Jaén emphasizes it: “Insidia is fine.” Miss Asturias sent him, as promised, the definitive version of her letter that she had helped him prepare in PDF format.
That same night the news of his letter broke in the media. “How fast,” Ábalos’ advisor added in this regard. And he added, later: “Well, now rest assured that the message is very powerful.”
Throughout her communications known to this newspaper, “Miss Asturias” discusses with Jaén numerous issues related to the judicial procedure that has led Ábalos to serve a prison sentence in the Soto del Real center (Community of Madrid).
On March 12, for example, Montes let her know his concern because she “appeared on the news on ‘Antena 3’,” as did “José (Luis Ábalos).” “This seems stronger and stronger to me,” he said.
René Perle tried to encourage her: “We have to put up with this. JL (José Luis Ábalos) is now meeting with the lawyer. And he added, regarding the aforementioned news program, that they were “the spokespersons for the PP.” In another WhatsApp, the assistant of Ferraz’s former “number three” once again mentioned to the popular people: “This cannot be free for the PP.”
Jaén even responds to a message in which Montes calls him a “wonderful person” with similar words. «You really are a marvel. Look, this adversity has given us the opportunity to get to know each other. Everything has two sides and this is the good one.
In another WhatsApp, he tells Miss Asturias that “there would be an opportunity to get to know each other better and even laugh at many things that (then) seemed dark.” “Everything passes, Claudia, and this too will pass,” he urged her to think.
