That necessity is the mother of invention is something that in Ukraine They have been checking for more than 1,000 days. In addition to the military aid packages it has been receiving from the United States and Europe during these 2 years and 9 months warUkraine has to exploit all its own military resources to resist the Russian invasion. A new example is the reconnaissance drone Dovbush T10which has been transformed in a mother drone that serves as a launch platform for up to 6 kamikaze drones.
Ukraine started producing the Dovbush T10 in 2022at the beginning of the war. At the time, there were plans to convert it into a kamikaze drone, one of the main weapons in this conflict, but it has been used to monitor the advance of Russian troops on the front and inspect nearby regions. However, a new video on social media shows that the Dovbush T10 UAV has been converted into a drone mothership by Ukrainian forces.
The original video, which was posted by Serhii Beskrestnova Ukrainian military consultant, on Telegram and from there he moved to other social networks, teaches a field test in which the mothership carries two kamikaze drones, one on each wing. The target is a car and the T10 is seen launching the first kamikaze drone from the air after locating the target. A few seconds after impact, the Dovbush T10 launches the second drone, which also manages to hit the target. According to Beskrestnov, the T10 can carry up to 6 drones with first person view (FPV).

The Dovbush T10 drone has an approximate range of 40 kilometers and is designed to resist electronic countermeasures and enemy air defense systems.
Converting it into a mother drone offers several important advantages to Ukrainian forces: improves range of FPV drones being used as kamikazes against Russian targets; can continue surveillance after launching the kamikaze drones and staying to observe if they were effective or if more are needed; allows keep operational troops even further away from the danger zone, in a safe place, while the attack occurs; and the placement of a signal repeater on the mothership strengthens the connection and makes it easier for operators to handle kamikaze drones at greater distances. Furthermore, the T10 is a platform for low costmanufactured locally in Ukraine, which helps significantly reduce operating costs.
