This Sunday will bring a day marked by the movement of precipitation and thermal contrasts in the Peninsula. From the early hours, the showers and storms that yesterday forced the AEMET to issue yellow warnings in Castilla y León and Extremadura will affect the south and southeast, especially in Badajoz, western Andalusia and the Almeria coast, where they could be locally strong or accompanied by hail.
For this reason, the state agency has activated yellow warnings for up to 15 liters per square meter of water in western Andalusia and Extremadura, but also for rain and storms in the Balearic Islands or the Alboran Sea.
Cloudiness will be more persistent in the eastern Cantabrian Sea and the Pyrenees, with the possibility of snow above 1,600-2,000 meters, while the center and north of the peninsula will see an alternation of clearings and evolving cloudiness, with some scattered showers in mountain areas.
Maximum temperatures will decrease in much of the Peninsula, especially in the southeast and central east, putting an end to the days of intense heat in some regions. On the other hand, slight rises are expected in the northwest of the peninsula, and the minimum temperatures will decrease in areas of southern Iberia, with weak frosts in the Pyrenees and scattered in other mountain systems in the north. The day will begin with morning fog banks in mountain environments that could affect visibility, especially in the north and east of the peninsula.
The wind will be another protagonist of the day. It will blow from the west and north, rolling south on the Atlantic slope in the afternoon. Moderate winds will predominate on the coasts, while in the interior light and moderate gusts will alternate. Highlights include strong intervals of gales in the Ebro, westerly gusts in Alborán and northerly winds in Ampurdán and the northwest of Galicia, with probable strong gusts starting at midday.
This Monday, stability will increase in the northern half, with cloudy skies at the beginning that will tend to clear, while the southern half will continue with locally strong showers and storms, especially in the southwest. Maximum temperatures will drop in the northeast and southern Mediterranean, but will rise slightly in the rest, especially in the northern mountains.
However, on Tuesday the cloudiness will grow again from southwest to northeast, with more intense rainfall in the west of the Peninsula and Andalusia, while in the northeast and the Pyrenees it will be minimal or non-existent. Maximum temperatures will decrease in the west and Levante coasts, but will rise in the northern and eastern Cantabrian plateau.
