For years, buying a gaming laptop almost always meant carrying large equipment, with striking aesthetics and not very transport friendly. Ultrabooks, for their part, offered just the opposite, very light and a comfortable format, although they usually fell short when it came to playing games or tackling more demanding graphic tasks. Precisely, the ASUS TUF Gaming A14 2026 aims to carve out a space between a gaming laptop and light equipment for daily use, since it preserves the winning character of the family in a body of 14 incheschanging the classic dedicated graph for a AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 392 APUswhich is attached to a processor, Radeon 8060S and NPU on the same chip to gain efficiency without giving up playing anywhere.
The result is a laptop that It serves both for leisure and for work, study or travel. But how does it resolve that mix between small size, power and autonomy? At La Razón Hardgaming we tested a unit very recently and now we share our impressions.
Design and ports
When we opened the box of the ASUS TUF Gaming A14 we found what was just and necessary. Inside are the laptop, power cable, usual documentation and the 200 W charger, which uses the ASUS rectangular connector. Even so, the team also supports charging via USB-C Power Delivery from 45 to 100 Wa very practical option for traveling or days away from home when you are not going to play or render for hours.
Right out of the box, it is surprising how small it is for a TUF Gaming. Its 31.1 x 22.7 cm and its 1.48kg turn it into a portable easy to carry which avoids the aesthetics of those hulks that many 16-inch models still carry.
The 1.69 thickness at its thinnest profile maintains a compact body without giving up a seemingly reliable construction that relies on a combination of aluminum and plastic. The base barely gives way when writing and the hinges allow the screen to be folded up to 180 degreesa solution designed for when using the laptop at a shared table or looking for a more relaxed posture away from the desk. ASUS also retains the MIL-STD-810H certificationcommon in the TUF family, which Accredits resistance tests against shocks, vibrations, humidity or temperature changesa guarantee on a laptop called to leave home often.
In its distribution of ports, on the left side we find the charging socket, an HDMI 2.1 FRL, USB-C 4 suitable for DisplayPort and Power Delivery, USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 and the combined connector for headphones and microphone. On the right side there is a second USB-A 3.2 Gen 2, USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 suitable for DisplayPort and a microSD UHS-II slot. In return, Does not include Ethernet portsomething that some players may miss if they prefer to play via cable, although Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth solve the wireless part well.

Keyboard and touchpad
The keyboard, island type and illuminated, It is comfortable for both typing and gaming. The touch is somewhat softer than usual in high-end laptops, but that less harsh response ends up becoming something positive over long periods of time, because it produces less fatigue. The lighting has various levels of intensityalthough at night a dimmer section would have been nice.
On the keyboard there are own keys to control the volume, mute the microphone and open Armory Cratesomething very practical both for playing and when working. As they are separated from the function keys, there is no need to use the FN keys for basic actions and accidental touches are reduced. ASUS also avoids flashy RGB, so the laptop maintains a more sober image for an office or in class.
Performance
This version of the ASUS TUF Gaming A14 mounts an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 392, an APU with 12 cores and 24 threads that integrates Radeon 8060S graphics and an AMD XDNA NPU with a maximum of 50 TOPS. This unit does not mount a dedicated NVIDIA GPUand that changes quite a bit the way we value the whole. The unit we have tested has 64 GB of LPDDR5X memory and a 1 TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD inside. In practice, it responds quickly when browsing, working, making video calls, editing images or keeping several applications open at the same time. Nor can there be any objections when it comes to creative tasks, always within the limits of a 14-inch laptop.

Armory Crate is the ASUS application to change power modes, monitor temperatures, choose ventilation profiles and adapt the laptop to the use at any given time. Refrigeration It takes in air through the base and keyboard area, and expels it through the rear vents. In light tasks the noise is quite controlled, but when playing or demanding more from the computer the fans can be heard. It is not unusual for a gaming laptop of this size, although in a quiet room it is noticeable.
When it comes to playing, this Radeon 8060S offers a better experience than you would expect from an integrated graphics. It is advisable not to mix this FA401EA version and the variants equipped with RTX 5060, because they are different devices. In competitive and current titles, the TUF Gaming A14 performs best when not asked too much. The 2.5K screen invites you to play natively, but in more demanding programs it pays to go down to 1200p or 1080p to maintain a more stable frame rate. It is a well-designed laptop for gaming away from home, as long as it is clear that we are talking about powerful integrated graphics, not a direct substitute for a large computer with a high-consumption dedicated GPU.
Operating system
The ASUS TUF Gaming A14 brings Windows 11 Home as standard. The initial boot does not come too loaded, although ASUS includes its usual applications such as MyASUSwhich allows you to review the status of the device, manage updates, check the battery and access support functions. For its part, in the well-known Armory Crate The energy, ventilation and performance modes come together, so it ends up being the application that is most used when we want to adapt the laptop to work, play or daily use.

There is also no specific key to Copilot which gives quick access to Windows artificial intelligence functions, while the integrated NPU allows you to execute some local AI tasks more efficiently. The FHD IR camera compatible with Windows Hello and AI noise cancellation in the microphone round out the technical part.
Screen and sound
Your screen is presented in the same way as the solvent. ASUS has mounted a panel 14-inch IPS in 16 to 10 format2.5K resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels, 100 percent sRGB coverage and 165 Hz refresh rate. It has a matte surface, since reduces reflections outdoors or next to a window, which does not prevent you from continuing to use the equipment in overly lit rooms. It does not reach the contrast of an OLED, but it offers a sharp image, good color and a very pleasant softness. The 16 to 10 format is also appreciated when working, because it leaves more vertical space for documents, browser or timelines.
Regarding its sound plot, ASUS incorporates two 2W speakers, Hi-Res certification, Dolby Atmos and microphone array. The speakers point downwards, although the result is above what is usual in many small laptops. The voices are perceived clearly, the volume is sufficient for a room and the Dolby Atmos system improves the spatial sensation in video games, movies or music. It does not replace headphones for gaming, but it is capable of doing well in all areas.

Battery
The ASUS TUF Gaming A14 has a 73 Wh battery, a generous capacity for a 14-inch gaming laptop. In tasks such as browsing, watching high-definition video or working, it allows you to spend many hours away without having to go to the socket, especially with the low screen frequency or through a more contained energy mode.
During our tests, in Balanced mode and the screen at 2.5K and 165 Hz, the device lasted around eight hours on light tasks. The autonomy can improve by lowering it to 60 Hz or reducing the brightness, although when it comes to playing the approach changes and the 200 W charger remains the most logical option. 100W USB-C charging is fine as an aid for travel, college, or work, as long as you’re not going to juice your laptop for hours at full power.
In summary
The ASUS TUF Gaming A14 2026 is a really efficient candidate among those that promise a small, powerful and easy-to-carry laptop, with truly engineering inspired to work, but also to play outside the home. Its best asset is combining 14 inches, a 2.5K screen at 165 Hz, good autonomy, USB-C charging and an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 392 APU that far exceeds the performance that integrated graphics usually provide.
