The AEMET warns of the arrival of “locally heavy” rains in the west of the Peninsula

The rain enters the scene again. The west of the peninsula will be affected by an Atlantic front that will leave intervals of medium and high clouds in the western half, and cloudy or covered skies with precipitation occasionally accompanied by a storm in Galicia.without ruling out that they may become locally strong and/or persistent on their Atlantic façade. They could also end up affecting points in Asturias and western Castilla y León and Extremadura..

The anticyclonic trend of recent days will continue over the rest of the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands with a predominance of slightly cloudy or clear skies. Low cloudiness will appear again in the first hours of the day, with mists and fog in Mediterranean areas, Ebro and depressions in the northeast and the center of the peninsula. In the middle Ebro and surroundings of Cinca and Segre there is the greatest probability that these will be dense and extensive. In general, it is expected that they will tend to rise as the hours go by.

Temperatures continue to rise

It is expected that maximum temperatures rise across the boardmore markedly in the interior of the east and southeast of the peninsula. They may exceed 30 degrees in points of the eastern Canary Islands.

There are exceptions, Some declines could occur in western Galicia, interior of the Cantabrian Sea, under Guadalquivir, northeastern Catalonia and the eastern Canary Islands. The minimum temperatures will also rise, no city will drop below two degrees. There may be weak frosts in the Pyrenees and, locally, in other mountains in the northern half and on the northern plateau.

Capitals with the highest temperatures today

The highest temperatures will be seen again in the Canary Islands. Santa Cruz can reach a maximum of 29ºC while Gran Canaria will not exceed 27 degrees. On the Peninsula, the 25ºC in Alicante and 24ºC in Valencia and Murcia stand out. It is expected that all the provincial capitals of Andalusia and Extremadura will exceed the 20ºC barrier. Madrid, Burgos or León will not exceed 15 degrees. The province that will reach the lowest temperature during the day will be Lleida (12ºC).

The minimum temperatures will occur in parts of Castilla y León and Zaragoza. Several cities such as Zaragoza, Soria or Guadalajara will drop to 3 degrees. The coldest will be in Teruel and Palencia, where thermometers will reach 2 degrees.

Weather forecast for Saturday and Sunday

This Saturday, maximum temperatures are expected to increase in Galicia, western Andalusia, Alborán, Ebro and depressions in the northeast.descending in the rest of the eastern third of the peninsula and with few changes in the archipelagos. Some showers could be repeated in Galicia. The minimums will rise in the Mediterranean area and northern plateauwithout expecting big changes in general in the rest.

The month of December will begin with a general decrease in maximum temperatures throughout the Peninsula. Most of it will also continue under the influence of the anticyclone, with generally slightly cloudy skies. There could be heavy rains in Galicia due to the passage of an Atlantic front from the west that will leave a predominance of cloudy skies in the western third of the peninsula.
