A DANA (Isolated Depression at High Levels) will form this Monday in the west of the peninsula and will cause rainfall in large areas of Spain until Wednesdaysome of them locally strong in the Mediterranean area, as reported by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).
However, the organization’s spokesperson, Rubén del Campo, has warned that there is still There is uncertainty about the final trajectory of DANAwhich makes it difficult to determine exactly the areas where the rains will be more intense. The episode is also expected to cause snowfall, copious in mountain areas, and even in plateau areas on Marss, in addition to temperatures with ups and downs.
This Monday, the rains will especially affect the northwest quadrant and the central strip of the peninsula, where they are also expected snowfall at levels from 800 to 1,000 meters. They will also register more scattered showers in the eastern third of the peninsula and in the Balearic Islands, which could be locally strong in parts of Catalonia and the archipelago. The day will be marked by important thermal differences. According to Del Campo, “Lugo and Oviedo will remain between 8 and 10 degrees of maximum temperature, while Murcia will be around 20.”
The AEMET foresees that On Tuesday the DANA will move towards the south of the peninsulawhich will cause weak rainfall in the Cantabrian Sea and more abundant in the central, eastern and southern areas of the peninsula and in the Balearic Islands. In principle, and with some uncertainty, the heaviest rains would be recorded in the eastern Castilla-La Mancha, Region of Murcia, Valencian Community and the Balearic Islandswhere locally heavy showers could occur.
The snow level will be around 1,400 meters in the extreme north and around 800-1,200 meters in the rest of the peninsula. Heavy snowfalls are expected around the Central System, south of the Iberian System in the Betic systems. Furthermore, it is not ruled out that these snowfalls could fall in plateau areas in the south of Castilla y León and the east of Castilla-La Mancha.
Throughout the day, marked differences in temperature will once again be recorded, although in general the atmosphere will be cold for the season. “Ávila will barely reach 5 degrees, Toledo will remain between 10 and 12 and, on the other hand, in cities like A Coruña or Bilbao it will be around 15”says Del Campo.
Probable retreat to the south
Uncertainty increases ahead of Wednesdays, although the most likely forecast is for DANA to move south at the same time as a front passes through the extreme north. In this scenario, the day will begin with rain in the northern, eastern and Balearic regions, but the precipitation will tend to subside as the hours go by, giving rise to clearer skies.
In addition, both the snow level and temperatures will experience an increase. The snow will be around 1,600 meters and, although frost will be recorded at dawn in mountain areas, in the afternoon Thermometers could exceed 18 degrees in the Tagus, Guadiana and Guadalquivir valleys, as well as in areas of the northeast of the peninsula and the Balearic Islands.
A more stable situation is expected for Thursday, with clear skies predominating in much of the country. However, some evolution clouds could develop that would leave showers in the Mediterranean area. Temperatures will continue to rise.
Facing the Fridaya new front could leave rains in Galicia, northern Castilla y León and the Cantabrian Sea, precipitations that Saturday They could spread to other areas of the peninsula. That day a general drop in temperatures is also expected due to the entry of northerly winds.
