Telephone list in which WhatsApp will stop working from this month

From the last June 1the popular messaging application WhatsApp It has ceased to be compatible with several models of old telephones. The measure mainly affects devices more than 10 years olddue to the changes implemented by Meta, the parent company of the app, in its compatibility and security policies.

These changes, which were initially scheduled for the month of May, were delayed until June. From now on, WhatsApp will only work on phones that have iOS 15.1 or higher in the case of iPhone, and Android 5.0 or higher for Android devices.

What models are affected?

In the case of Apple, users who have any of the following models can no longer use WhatsApp:

  • iPhone 5s
  • iPhone 6
  • iPhone 6 Plus
  • Any model prior to these

These devices are not compatible with iOS 15.1 And, therefore, they cannot receive the necessary updates to continue using the application. In addition, the iPhone 6 was declared “obsolete” by Apple, which means that it no longer receives official support or repairs.

As for Android, the following models will not be compatible:

  • Samsung Galaxy S III
  • HTC One X.
  • Sony Xperia Z
  • Other Android devices prior to version 5.0

Goal He pointed out that these devices lack the security updates and functionalities necessary to execute WhatsApp safely and efficiently, which has motivated the decision.

WhatsApp continues to evolve

With more than two billion active users worldwide, WhatsApp continues to be updated. Only in April of this year, the application announced twelve new functions. In his official blog, Meta informed that he will periodically share tools, configurations and news summaries, inviting users to stay up to date.

The measure seeks to guarantee greater security and better experience of use, although it means that those who use old devices should choose to update their mobile if they want to continue using the application.
