Saturday’s gadget: ThinkPad T14s Gen 6, a laptop with a record battery

Often, when we buy a laptop, we are concerned about the life of the keyboard, the quality of the screen and its power. Obviously, your battery is essential too. With the ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 from Lenovo, what you have to worry about is being rational with charging to keep battery life in perfect condition. Because if we achieve it, we will have a laptop for years… and we will be able to use it for days on end.

For several years, at least since Generation 2, Lenovo has strived to provide the ThinkPad line with the best on the market. That makes it not an ultrabook for those who only use word processing and the Internet. Doing so would be like using a sports car to do your shopping.: You can, but you won’t get the most out of it.

This makes it have some peculiarities. For example, its weight: 1.24 kilograms. It is not light, but it will not become an elephant in a bazaar when it comes to taking it on a trip. Much of this has to do with the materials selected for its construction: carbon fiber and a recycled magnesium alloy body that contributes to its lightness, but also to its resistance when it comes to receiving involuntary blows and taking the hinges to the extreme. .

To this we must add a surprise: it does not have a fan. And you don’t need it. At full performance, the heat is practically not felt and that is something that laptops rarely achieve. Even less are those that do not have a fan to dissipate heat. Another interesting detail is that, from the moment we take it out of the box, it is ready to work without any problem or obstacle.

The T14s Gen 6 has the keyboard Featured ThinkPad, TrackPoint, and Trackpad. For added privacy, there is a physical slider to cover the camera and a dedicated key in the function row to mute the built-in microphone.

As for the brain, it has a Snapdragon X Elite with 12 cores, 32 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of storage. In total it includes 2 USB-C ports, two USB-A, one HDMI 2.1 and a headphone and microphone jack. All this may not say much, but when you have more than 50 tabs open in Chrome, Spotify in full activity, Excel and Acrobat open and the delay is not noticeable, it is because the power is well directed.

And then comes the star of the T14s Gen 6: the battery. With this type of use or, rather, even with this type of use, It was possible to reach 18 hours (just that) without resorting to a charger (it includes a 65 W one).

But not everything is rosy: I must confess that if I would add anything it is a touchscreen and perhaps a slightly more responsive trackpad. But the rest of the body, that is, the keyboard, works wonderfully and with a very high response and durability (at least for the duration of use).

Verdict:

The Lenovo ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 stands out with its excellent battery life, reliable design, and lightweight build, making it ideal for users who prioritize mobility and connectivity. Its price (starting at 1,763 euros) is not low, but it is worth what it costs. Due to performance, power and features, it is not for everyone. For battery… we would like it to be
