This has been made official through his social networks, announcing that he will stop competing. after finishing the Davis Cup which takes place between November 19 and 24. The Spaniard has posted a video where he addresses the camera and explains the reasons for his withdrawal.
“The reality is that the last two years have been difficult and I have not been able to play without limitations. It is a difficult decision, which has taken me time, but in this life everything has a beginning and an end. “I think it’s the right time to put an end to what has been a long career and much more successful than I could have ever imagined.”
Furthermore, the tennis player has assured that he likes the idea of concluding his career representing his country: “I am very excited that my last tournament is the Davis Cup representing my country. “It’s closing the circle because one of my first joys was the final in Seville in 2004.”
With his retirement, Nadal closes his record with22 Grand Slam titles: 14 Roland Garros, 4 US Open, 2 Australian Open and 2 Wimbledon.
