Naturgy Foundation has rewarded a project to reduce energy poverty of the most vulnerable homes in the sixth edition of its ‘Prize for the best social initiative in the energy field’.
Provivienda Association has been recognized as the best project, endowed with 100,000 euros, for its initiative ‘Solutions for energy saving at home’, which seeks to improve access to the energy of the most vulnerable homes, reducing energy poverty.
This initiative seeks to improve access to the energy of the most vulnerable households, reducing energy poverty, through a diagnosis of household energy needs and implementation of measures to improve their efficiency; training in consumption habits, energy savings methods and comfort improvement; and understanding and optimization of supplies invoices, access to the electrical social bonus and legal advice on energy consumption.
Fernando Rodríguez García, Territorial Director of the Canary Islands of Association Provivienda, has indicated that the award “It is a recognition of the work of all the professionals involved in the project and the economic endowment will allow us to climb our impact, with additional actions that we have been carrying out, as reforms of macro -efficiency in the homes”.
Accessit and other recognitions
For its part, the Tomillo Foundation has received the second prize, endowed with 50,000 euros, for the project ‘Vulnerable Youth, Agents of Social Change’. It is an initiative to increase youth employability and energy sustainability in homes, with network solutions.
The objective is to promote energy savings, train to give employment opportunity and prevent electrical risks in vulnerable homes. It is developed through theoretical and practical training of young people in a situation of social vulnerability of basic professional training (FPB) in electricity and electronics, administration and computer science. Once the theoretical training is received, the students themselves perform the practical part with families with socio -economic difficulties, by conducting audits and awareness.
Social impact
This year, 84 entities of the entire Spanish territory, -a 13.5% more than the previous edition -have presented their candidacies to this recognition that this edition improves its economic endowment. The work of all the proposals received has an impact on more than 260,000 beneficiaries.
Naturgy’s executive president, Francisco Reynés, congratulated the winners and thanked all the entities the great work they do. “This award has established itself as a recognition that confirms Naturgy’s commitment to society. The quality and content of the projects presented reaffirm us in the suitability of having increased the budgetary endowment of these recognitions.” Reynés has taken the opportunity to value the work carried out by Naturgy Foundation, “of which the energy” feels not only responsible but very proud. “
Six editions and 422 candidacies
The 84 projects presented this year are added to the 338 of the previous five editions. The candidacies that have opted for this recognition in the last six years have more than one million two hundred thousand beneficiaries. In total, Fundación Naturgy has delivered 680,000 euros in prizes to all these entities with the commitment to apply it to carry out new social projects.
