Precipitation and a sharp drop in temperatures are expected throughout Spain

The weekend will be marked, once again, by the meteorological instability before the imminent arrival of a new storm which will mainly affect the northwest of the Peninsula. Thus, today’s weather in Spain will stand out for the arrival of precipitation, cloudy skies and a general drop in temperatures.

Nevertheless, The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) does not highlight any significant phenomenon todaybut only warns of the drop in mercury, the arrival of overcast skies and precipitation, as well as strong winds in the northwest of the country.

Regarding cloudiness, An Atlantic front is expected to pass through the Peninsula which, according to the AEMET, will leave cloudy or overcast skies, as well as weak or moderate rainfall, accompanied by storms, mainly in the northwest half..

Thus, they are expected to be most abundant in Galicia, west of the Central system, Extremadura and in the Pyrenean environmentwhile they are likely to be locally strong or persistent in western Galicia and northern Aragon. However, less likely, and weaker and more dispersed, there may be more stormy episodes in the south and east of the peninsulaleaving without precipitation and with medium and high clouds in the southeastern third, Alborán and the Balearic Islands. For its part, Cloudy intervals are expected in the Canary Islands.

A general drop in temperatures

The State Meteorological Agency highlights that maximum temperatures will tend to decrease almost universally.except in some cases in which they will increase, especially in the Mediterranean area. In addition, Minimum temperatures will decrease in the northwest and increase in the northeast and interior southeastwhile in Canary Islands temperatures will drop in the midlands.

In this way, provincial capitals such as Ávila, Palencia or León will barely reach 10º C early in the daywhile during the day they will hardly exceed 20º C.

Strong gusts of wind

The AEMET warns that Winds will blow from the south and east in the eastern Mediterranean area and northeast of the peninsula, as well as from the West in the Strait and Alboran, increasing.. For its part, in the rest the southern and western components will predominate, being more intense in the northwest and north, with possible intervals of strong winds and/or very strong gusts on the coasts of northern Galicia and mountains of the northern third of the peninsula. Thus, in Canary Islands it is expected to blow a light wind with a northerly or variable component.
