Heat, waves and storms will trigger warnings in ten provinces tomorrow, with Mallorca at red level due to rain

Ten provinces will be on alert for heat, wind, rain, storms and waves this Thursday, according to the forecast of the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).

The worst part will be in the Balearic Islands, where Mallorca will be on red alert for rain with a forecast of accumulated precipitation of 180 litres per square metre (l/m2).

Specifically, Ibiza, Formentera and Menorca will be on orange alert for rain, while Mallorca will reach red level. In addition, all the islands will have a yellow warning for storms. At the same time, Barcelona, ​​Lleida and Tarragona (Catalonia) will be on alert for rain and Girona (Catalonia) will be on alert for rain and waves. In addition, heat warnings will be in place in Córdoba, Huelva and Seville (Andalusia).

There will also be warnings for wind and waves in Gran Canaria, El Hierro and Tenerife and warnings only for wind in La Palma and La Gomera (Canary Islands).

In general terms, AEMET predicts the presence of a DANA in the eastern Mediterranean area, with great instability, abundant cloudiness and intense showers and storms, which may be accompanied by mud. By area, it warns that in the Balearic Islands they will occur from early hours and that they may be locally very strong or torrential, persistent and with hail.

In the afternoon, with the addition of cloudiness in the eastern third, showers and storms are likely in the Pyrenees, Catalonia and scattered coastal and pre-coastal areas of the southeast and south of the Valencian Community.
