Give me a minute or less. Before talking about this new speaker, it would be right to mention Will I Am, one of Black Eyed Peas’s leaders. Linked to Intel, one of the main microchips manufacturers, for years, friend of Bill Gates, is responsible for several technological firms. For example, to I.AM+, a company that focuses on the creation of wearable products that combine fashion and technology. Or fyi.ai, a messaging service that incorporates AI, understanding of natural language and voice computing. It is also a fundamental part of Sound Drive, a new startup dedicated to cars music, which already has an alliance with Mercedes-Benz.
Well, it is this musician who has collaborated in The design and development of the Xboom Bunce, the new LG speaker. Which means there is a good reason to trust this device.
Being honest, I must admit that I am not a lover of the outdoor speakers. I think there are few occasions on which there is a reason why fill a space outside the house. And even less in nature. That said, when I took it to the garden, I connected it to a projector and took advantage of a strange night clear from Asturias to do “A summer cinema”, the sound was projected to another dimension.
The first thing to highlight, beyond its design, its power or resistance is The native app: LG Thinq. While it takes a few minutes to link the device and recognize the parameters, once we have done it allows us to customize the Xboom to the environment in which it is located. In this sense, it reminded me a lot of cleaning robots applications that adapt to the surface, to the presence of furniture and pets and changes in the environment.
Thanks to this, it is possible to create a specific configuration for each place. If we add to that that it can reach about 30 hours of autonomy, a load (not very fast, it must be said) of 3 hours (if you connect it to the TV and use it as a sound bar, it is loaded at the same time). On the positive side it must be said that it is a speaker prepared to live abroad: It has the MIL-STD-810H military test standard, this makes rain resistant, vibration, impact, salt water dew, flood, sand dust and high temperature … among others.
Taking into account that Its price is 199 euros, it is a very tight speaker in all aspects. Even in the weight, almost 1.5 kilos, it also stands out. But again, what stands out is its customization capacity through the app: if we take five minutes we will listen much better and the battery will last much more.
Finally, regarding sound, if we say A professional musician, technology expert (read Will I am) signs this device, is for something. It is very difficult to get the highest volumes to distort the sound quality we will hear.
Verdict:
The LG Xboom Bounce is one of the most interesting speakers of the moment. Simply for one reason: if you have turned a person who was not a lover of this type of devices in a believer, it is adequate for those who do use them frequently.
