The judge of the National Court José Luis Calama has placed José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero as leader of a criminal organization dedicated to obtaining favors from the Administration –with the rescue of the Plus Ultra airline in the spotlight– in exchange for “economic considerations.”
The magistrate detailed in his order what he considers “rational indications of criminality” against the former leader of the PSOE and the rest of those investigated – among them Julio Martínez Sola, president of the airline company rescued in March 2021 thanks to an injection of public money of 53 million euros– refers to Zapatero as the “decision-making and strategic core of the network.” A role that the judge sees accredited, he emphasizes, by “multiple evidence.”
After hearing the court decision, Zapatero defended his innocence yesterday by broadcasting a video in which he denies having made any effort in relation to the rescue of the company. The Government and the PSOE have already come to his defense, under the premise of going to war with Judge Calama.
