Is the end of Storm Regina in Spain coming? All the details about DANA and its evolution during this Sunday

The passage of Storm Regina, the seventeenth of the season, has left a panorama of widespread rains and accumulated strongespecially in regions like Cataluña and the Valencian Communitywhere the 70 liters per square meter in a few hours.

However, its center of action has been moving, giving way to a new atmospheric configuration. The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) already indicated before the beginning of the weekend that, although the worst moment of the atmospheric episode would arrive on Saturday, the mass of cold air associated with DANA will keep the sky covered and the rainfall during this Sunday.

Unlike the torrential and persistent showers of past days, the forecast for today indicates a trend towards progressive stabilization.

As detailed by the AEMET, instability will be somewhat reduced “compared to Saturday, although the rains will continue to be the protagonists in the extreme north of the peninsula and in the eastern half of the country.

Occasional heavy showers are not ruled out, but they will be less likely and intense than in previous days.

Thermal contrast and warning zones for the day

The influence of DANAwhich tends to fill north of the Peninsulawill maintain cloudy or covered skies in much of the territory, although with a tendency to open clear in large areas of the southwest and the southern plateau.

They are expected widespread rainfall which will be weak and occasional in the west of the plateau, but will gain intensity towards the northeast of the peninsula. In this area, showers could be locally strong and with abundant accumulationsalthough lower than those recorded in previous days, and may occasionally be accompanied by storms and hail.

The snow level will be between 1,400 and 1,700 metersaccumulating in the Pyrenees and more weakly in other mountains in the northern and southeastern half.

As for temperatures, the day will leave a mark contrast. While in the Pyrenees and southern Iberia a decline of the maximums, in the rest of the country the promotions light, being more pronounced in Galicia and the Cantabrian Sea, where they could even be locally notables.

The minimums, for their part, will rise slightly in the northwest but will descend in the rest, with special intensity in depressions in the northeast and areas in the west of the plateau. This thermal panorama will be accompanied by morning fog banks in mountain and coastal environments, as well as weak frosts at the main summits.

The wind will blow generally weak in the insidewith a predominance of western and southern components in the Atlantic and Cantabrian slopesand a southern and eastern component in the Mediterranean. On the Atlantic coasts, it is expected to be more intense, with a northern component, rolling southwest in Galicia at the end of the day.

In the Mediterranean, the wind will be moderately westerly in Alborán and east and northeast in the rest, while in Canary Islands The trade wind will blow with strong intervals and possible very strong gusts in exposed areas.
