The Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, is in New York to participate in the United Nations General Assembly that takes place between the September 22 and 28.
In this context, the diplomat has uploaded a video to its social networks and those of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about his arrival in the American city and his participation in the event, a video that has gone viral on social networks and is generating a lot of interaction.

Operation of the United Nations General Assembly
The General Assembly is the principal organ of the United Nations deliberation, policy adoption and representation. It is made up of the 193 Member States of the United Nations and constitutes a unique forum for multilateral deliberations on the full range of international issues covered by the Charter of the United Nations. In this body there is equal voting for all Member States.
The General Assembly also makes key decisions for the UN, including:
- Appoint the Secretary General upon recommendation of the Security Council
- Choose the non-permanent members of the Security Council
- Approve the UN budget
The Assembly meets annually in regular sessions from September to December and thereafter as necessary. They analyze specific issues through subtopics or specific agenda items, which lead to the adoption of resolutions.
The seating arrangement in the General Assembly Hall changes each session. During the eighty-first session (2025-2026), Morocco will occupy the first seat in the room, including in the Main Committees (followed by all other countries, in alphabetical order of the country names in English).
