Facebook is one of the most popular social networks in the worldbut there are times when you might feel the need to disconnect. Whether for privacy reasons, wanting to reduce your time on social media, or simply because you’ve decided it’s time for a change, unsubscribing from Facebook is a simple process. Here’s how to do it.
Step 1: Sign in to your account
To get started, open your web browser or the Facebook app on your mobile device and sign in with your credentials.
Step 2: Access settings
Once you are in your profile, go to the top right corner of the screen. There you will find a down arrow icon (on the web version) or three horizontal lines (on the mobile app). Click this icon to display a menu.
Step 3: Select “Settings and privacy”
In the drop-down menu, look for the option that says “Settings and privacy.” Click on it to expand more options.
Step 4: Go to “Settings”
Under “Settings and privacy,” select “Settings.” This will take you to a new page where you can manage different aspects of your account.
Step 5: Find the “Your Facebook Information” option
In the left menu, look for the section that says “Your Facebook Information.” Click on it to access options related to your account.
Step 6: Choose “Deactivation and Removal”
Under “Your Facebook Information”, you will find the “Deactivation and deletion” option. Click this option to continue.
Step 7: Select “Delete account”
Here you will have two options: “Deactivate account” or “Delete account”. If you want to permanently delete your account, select “Delete Account.” Please note that this action is irreversible and you will lose all your data, photos and friends.
Step 8: Follow the instructions
Facebook will guide you through a confirmation process. You may be asked to enter your password again and complete a short questionnaire about why you decided to delete your account. Follow the instructions until the process is complete.
