Samsung You are no longer limited to your Bixby smart assistant. The South Korean company moved to integrate different artificial intelligence (AI) agents into its Galaxy AI operating system, to elevate the user experience of its mobile devices.
In this multi-agent evolution, Samsung announced in a statement that Galaxy AI will have the option to use the popular Perplexity.a agenti, in addition to keeping the native Bixby assistant alive. To activate it by voice, the user will only have to say “Hey, Plex”, it was reported.
According to the technology giant, the update responds to the clear trend that 8 out of 10 users already use more than two AI agents for different tasks in your daily life.
In this context, Samsung indicated that its commitment is to cultivate a more integrated and flexible environment, which puts it in the user’s hands to select the tool they prefer for each need, without friction.
“We are committed to building an integrated, open and inclusive AI ecosystem that gives users more choice, flexibility and control to perform complex tasks quickly and easily,” Won-Joon Choi, Chief Operating Officer of Samsung Electronics, wrote in writing. “Galaxy AI acts as an orchestrator, bringing together different forms of AI into a single, natural and cohesive experience.”
As explained by the leader of Samsung’s mobile experience research and development area, Galaxy AI is distinguished by being part of the operating system, not an isolated application. This allows the user to activate their different agents without having to switch between applications, automating processes, routines and workflows intuitively.
What makes Perplexity different?
According to the explanation generated by Perplexity.ai to the question of what differentiates it from other AI agents, it indicated that “it performed real-time web searches for each query, synthesizing information from authoritative sources into concise summaries with direct quotes. This avoids responses based only on pre-trained data, as occurs in generalist conversational models.”
The agent added that each response “includes links to original sources, allowing immediate verification, unlike agents that generate text without explicit references. My process imitates a human researcher: I understand the query, I search, I summarize and I quote.”
A first step
As a starting point, Samsung will integrate Perplexity into the next generation of its high-end Galaxy devices, which will announce this week.
Users can activate it through voice command“Hey Plex.”or by programming quick accesses, such as pressing and holding the device’s side button.
When used, Perplexity will be integrated with key applications and functionalities, such as notes, clock, photo gallery, calendar and reminders. This will allow the user to use the agent to perform a variety of tasks, even those that are related to each other, such as scheduling a calendar event, setting a reminder, setting alarms, searching for information and generating notes, without having to resort to other applications.
Samsung announced that this is the first step, as it will continue to expand its AI ecosystem through strategic alliances with suppliers that it has not yet revealed.
More details about compatible devices and new features that will hit the market will be announced soon, indicated the company that will have its Galaxy Unpacked launch event this Wednesday, February 25, from San Francisco.
