Enma López, in the PSOE pools for Móstoles

Nine months before the municipal elections, in the second largest city of Madrid, Móstoles, “the PSOE does not exist,” say the party’s own members. And all after the fratricidal war that has taken place for control of the local group between members involved in the “ITV case”, on which an oral trial has been opened, and who are now at the head of the party and the Municipal Group. But the general secretary of the PSOE-M, Pilar Sánchez Acera, has already warned that the situation in Móstoles “will be fixed.” He also said that none of those involved in the “ITV case” would be the candidate for Mayor in May 2027. The only clue that has been given so far is that the socialist candidate for the next municipal elections It will be a woman and that her name will be announced by the Local Group and the PSOE-M when the second window of the primary calendar opens, in the month of September.

In the pools the subdelegate of the Government in Madrid sounded loudly, Pilar Trinidadbut yesterday the PSOE-M “flatly” denied it.

There are, however, two other women who appear in the electoral hype. On the one hand, Ana Maria Rodriguezwith extensive experience within the socialist group of Móstoles and a marked municipalist profile, who held a relevant organic position in 2017, when the recently deceased Secretary of State for Housing and Urban Agenda, David Lucas, was mayor of Móstoles.

The name of Enma Lopezdeputy spokesperson for the PSOE in the Madrid City Council, who recently decided to run in the socialist primaries to run for mayor of the capital in the 2027 municipal elections, to the surprise of the party leadership. But finally, Ferraz’s favorite, the former minister and current municipal spokesperson, Reyes Maroto, gained more support.

If this movement is confirmed, it would repeat precisely the same pattern that was followed with David Lucas, who, like Enma López, was part of the socialist team in Madrid capital, but was later placed by the party as the head of the list in Móstoles in 2011.

Internal crisis

As LA RAZÓN has been reporting, the PSOE of Móstoles is experiencing a situation of sustained crisis over time. For more than a year, the local leadership of the party, headed by Álex Martín, and a good part of the Socialist Municipal Group, led by former mayor Noelia Posse, have been at odds. The conflict worsened after the suspension in 2025 of the renewal process of the local Executive and Martín’s decision to maintain his candidacy despite the recommendation of the Madrid PSOE that both he and Posse take a step back due to their procedural situation in the ITV case.

Since then, the majority of socialist councilors removed Martín as deputy spokesperson. Martín was later reinstated after the intervention of the regional management.

Added to this were the resignation of Noelia Posse and six other members of the local Executive, as well as the requests of Posse and other leaders and militants to provisionally suspend those involved in the ITV case from militancy, including Martín himself.
