UFD, the Naturgy Group electric distributor, has exceeded 50,000 self -consumption facilities connected to its electricity grid in Spain. The data serves to illustrate the company’s commitment to the energy transition.
The company facilitated the connection to its infrastructure of more than 13,000 new self -consumption during the year 2024, which represents a growth of 35%. By autonomous communities they were distributed in Castilla-La Mancha, Galicia, Madrid and Castilla y León
The distributor of the Energy Company is managing the connection requests in accordance with the new processes defined by the regulatory agencies and collaborates closely with them to expedite the deadlines. In 2024, the average time for the activation of a self -consumption that meets all the requirements, since the application of the marketer is received, is approximately 3.2 days, below the 5 -day limit established by the regulations.
Collective self -consumptions have also grown significantly in the last year, tripling the number from 2023. The company has already connected more than 230 facilities of this type to its network with a total of 2,830 associated customers, which means multiplying by eight the number of consumers supplied through this modality in just one year. On average, each of these self -consumption points adds 12 consumers.
Fight against energy poverty
In line with this growth of self -consumption, the Naturgy Foundation also has been developing different projects in order to provide photovoltaic generation facilities to buildings where they live or where vulnerable people are helped, with the objective that the energy transition does not leave anyone behind and that they can also benefit from the advantages of self -consumption.
Thanks to these projects, the social entities that manage the properties obtain a reduction in the energy invoice and the savings generated can invest in other projects or social aid. As Esther Sevilla explains, responsible for social projects of the Naturgy Foundation “given the situation of energy vulnerability in which so many families are, it is necessary to seek new formulas to expand the scope of our social programs, which until now have already benefited thousands of people in Spain.” And, in addition, they allow us to contribute to a fair energy transition. ”
