December starts with a cold front that will plummet temperatures and bring new rains

The month of December begins with more stable weather in most of the Peninsula. However, At the end of the day the arrival of a cold front will leave very cloudy skies or covered in the northwest and cloudy in the rest, with a predominance of high cloudiness.

This front will leave rainfall in the west of Galicia, which will subsequently extend to the entire Community and, in a weaker way, to the northwest of Castilla y León and west of Asturias.. Precipitation will be persistent in western Galicia and it is not ruled out that it may reach strong intensity locally or be accompanied by a storm.

In the Mediterranean, the remains of another front may generate showers during the early morning in the south of the Balearic Islands, the area of Palos and Alboránwith possible impact also in Melilla. In the Canary Islands there will be cloudy intervals and weak rainfall is not ruled out, which is less likely in the eastern islands.

Maximum temperatures will rise in the Cantabrian slope, the Pyrenees, the high areas of the Iberian Peninsula, the Central System and the south of the peninsula.. On the contrary, they will decrease in Castilla y León and slightly in the northeast, as well as in the Guadiana, Ebro and Segura valleys.

The minimums will drop across the board in the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, with values between -6 ºC and -3 ºC in several provincial capitals of Castilla y León. In the southeast, hardly any changes are expected. Weak frosts are expected in mountain areas and nearby areas, more intense in the Pyrenees and high altitudes of the Iberian Peninsula. In the Canary Islands, temperatures will remain practically unchanged.

The wind will blow from the south and southwest in the interior of the peninsula, and from the north in the Gulf of Cádiz, the Balearic Islands and the northern Mediterranean coast, where it will tend to blow southwest. Moderate gusts are expected on the Galician and Cantabrian coasts, with strong intervals in the northwest of Galicia and the western Cantabrian Sea, and even very strong gusts in inland areas. In the Balearic Sea and the northern Mediterranean coast it will be moderate and will tend to subside, while in Alborán it will be variable. In the Canary Islands, moderate trade winds will predominate.e
