After nearly a quarter of a century in power, Bashar Al Assad left his position as president of Syria this Sunday after theincursion of rebels, opponents and jihadists in the capital, Damascuswhich occurred during the night and with hardly any resistance from the army.
The son of Hafez al Assadwho had already been president for nearly 30 years in the country, is, according to the TASS agency, in Moscow (Russia), together with his family, moments before the official declaration of the “liberation” of Damascus by the insurgents.
Headed by Al-Jolani, leader ofHayat Tahrir al Sham (HTS), the opponents of Al Assad have achieved a regime change, helped by the connivance and withdrawal of the Syrian armed forces in key cities such as Homs or Damascus itself, and begin “a new era” for Syria.
Moments later, different groups of people in the population centers in Syria took to the streets to celebrate the change and fall of the Al Assad regime, as did other powers abroad such as Israel, the United States, the United Kingdom and Ukraine.
