The former mayor and leader of Bcomú in the Barcelona City Council, Ada Colau, has announced that will leave Barcelona City Council at the end of October and then the co-leadership of the Comuns, according to the note sent this Sunday to the militants and collected by Europa Press.
This was announced by Crític, a media outlet according to which Colau does not rule out returning to politics in the next municipal elections so that her party can regain the Barcelona Mayor’s office.
In her note, Colau details that she will cease to be a councilor at the end of October and will not seek re-election as coordinator in the assembly of Catalunya en Comú November (also Jessica Albiach and Candela López), and will increase his work in the party’s think tank, Fundació Sentit Comú. “I want to become more involved with the Fundació del Espacio and I will discuss this with its Board of Trustees in the coming days,” he explained to the militants.
Justifying his decision, he says: “I consider this whole process to be a necessary change of stage after 10 years.” “But it does not mean abandoning what I consider to be my political space, where I will continue to be active. A hug and see you very soon,” he adds.
