Chinese astronauts “in good condition” after their return was delayed due to space debris

Stranded crew of Chinese space mission found “in good condition, working and living normally”the Chinese Manned Space Engineering office reported on Tuesday.

The three astronauts of the Shenzhou-20 mission face a delay in their return to the Land after the one scheduled for November 5 was aborted after the impact of a small fragment of space debris against the ship.

The return has been postponed to an undetermined date, but the mission team is conducting tests and simulations, according to a statement issued by the space agency.

“The Shenzhou-20 crew is in good condition, working and living normally”says the statement.

The three astronauts –Chen Dong, Chen Zhongrui and Wang Jie– traveled to the Tiangong space station in April and were finishing their six-month rotation.

The Shenzhou-21 replacement mission successfully docked with the space station on Nov. 1, carrying a group of mice for experiments for the first time.

China has not stopped advancing its space program since 2003. It has built its own space station and its goal is to take a person to the Moon in 2030.
