This weekend, the weather will be stable in much of Spain, with many hours of sun and cold in the northern half of the peninsula. According to Rubén del Campo, spokesperson for the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), the cold will be “typical of this time of year,” although Temperatures will rise at the beginning of next week, making the environment warmer towards Wednesday or Thursday. The rains will be scarce during the weekend, although they could reach the north and west of the peninsula from Wednesday, with greater intensity in Galicia due to a front associated with an Atlantic storm. Dense and icy fogs

With “full dominance of the anticyclone around the peninsula and the Balearic Islands,” according to Del Campo, the skies will be clearer during the weekend and, likewise, there will be a more stable atmosphere. Temperatures will drop at night and rise during the day. Frost will form in many areas of the interior of the peninsula, especially in mountain areas. On the Northern Plateau they may be between -2 and -4 degrees.

Daytime temperatures will remain below 10 degrees in much of the north. Meanwhile, in the southern half, the thermal values ​​will be higher. In fact, in the Mediterranean area it will reach 18 to 20ºC in the central hours of the day. The rains will be limited to points in the extreme north of the peninsula and Fog will be frequent, both at dawn and in the morning and especially on the plateau and basins of the large rivers, maintaining cold temperatures during the day.

Canary Islands, on orange alert due to strong winds

In the Canary Islands, a storm will give rise to very strong winds this weekend, especially in the western islands. In addition, on Sunday it will rain in a good part of the archipelago. This will be accompanied by haze and higher temperatures, since the winds come from the south and are temperate. Thus, 25 degrees will be exceeded in coastal areas.

Temperatures rise

Temperatures will continue to rise on Tuesday in many areas of the peninsula. Again, there will be frosts at dawn and in the morning, although less extensive than on Monday. TWe do not expect rain either, except in Galicia, where they could appear at the last few hours due to an Atlantic front. In the Canary Islands, temperatures will begin to drop and the haze will continue. Starting on Wednesday, the front that will reach Galicia will advance over the peninsula, bringing rain, especially in the north and northwest. Temperatures will continue to rise, reducing the intensity of the frosts, although they could drop again in subsequent days.
