Blanca Ibarra, former PSOE councilor in Alcalá de Henareshas expressed in X his support for those suffering from the difficulties of the rental market. “My support for all the people who are suffering from abusive rentals,” he says in a publication that includes a note from the community about the leases that it included in its 2023 asset declaration.
The message comes in the middle of the debate on housing, after the eviction of Maricarmen and the mobilizations to demand greater protection for tenants. The note added by users refers to the transparency portal of the Alcalá de Henares City Council, where the property documentation of the then mayor is published.
The amounts recorded in the property, accounts and financial products sections of that declaration total 1,749,981.98 euros, not including the vehicle. This amount corresponds to the data presented in June 2023 and requires nuances, since it combines cadastral values with financial balances and includes two homes described as “timeshare ownership”, without detailing percentages of ownership.
The community note indicates its rental income
The note focuses attention on rental income. In the section of other activities and income, Ibarra declared rents corresponding to four offices, a garage and three homeswith a total of 43,800 euros per year in “shared profits”.
This precision appears expressly in the document. It is not detailed what part of the amount corresponds to the declarant or how it is distributed among the properties. Therefore, The 43,800 euros cannot be fully attributed to Ibarra as personal income.
The note provides information about her status as a landlord on the date of the declaration, but the document does not include the prices of each contract nor does it allow us to determine whether her rents were abusive. Nor does it prove that those incomes or properties are maintained in the same conditions today.
Where does the figure of 1.75 million euros come from?
The 2023 asset declaration includes 780,463.75 euros in the real estate section. Under the cadastral value column there are four premises or offices, two garages and four homes, two of the latter identified as “timeshare”. The properties are located in Alcalá de Henares and Torrejón de Ardoz.
The documentation distinguishes between goods received through donation in 2016 and others acquired by sale between 2016 and 2018. The cadastral values are not equivalent to the market price of the properties and, in the case of timeshare homes, it is not specified whether the amounts reflect the full value of the property or Ibarra’s participation.
Other accounts, deposits, and a savings plan include 933,057.27 eurosdistributed among several banking entities. To this are added 31,360.96 euros in an investment fund and 5,100 euros in a pension planwhich complete the sum of 1,749,981.98 euros.
The document also includes a Peugeot 208 purchased in 2016 for 15,300 euros. This acquisition price is not part of the previous calculation nor does it constitute an appraisal of the vehicle at the time of filing the declaration. The section on loans, credits and other debts appears without recorded amounts.
A declaration of 2023 and an exit from the City Council in 2026
The declaration was presented before the inauguration for the municipal mandate 2023-2027. Its date is relevant to interpret the figures, which offer information on the assets and activities declared at that time, without allowing us to know their subsequent evolution.
Ibarra announced in March 2026 who was leaving her role as councilor to focus on a project related to content creation and political communication. His departure occurred in the midst of internal disagreements within the PSOE of Alcalá de Henares, which he also referred to when explaining his decision.
Now, his message about rents has once again directed attention to that documentation. The declaration allows you to verify the amounts and shared income that you reported in 2023but it does not establish its current assets or the conditions of the contracts referred to in X’s note.
