(Agbar) The great challenge of sanitation networks

There is no point in investing in advanced infrastructure if we misuse the network.

On the occasion of World Sanitation Day, Agbar remembers the importance of not flushing waste down the toilet, such as cigarette butts, oil, personal care products (hygienic wipes, diapers, cotton swabs, makeup remover pads, tampons, etc.), masks , as well as medications.

Doing so is not only a bad habit, but also involves a costly financial bill and harmful effects on the environment.

And this waste is responsible for numerous problems in wastewater management, causing significant blockages in the downpipes of neighboring communities, as well as in public infrastructures such as sewage networks, pumping equipment and wastewater treatment plants. .

Furthermore, this practice causes serious environmental problems due to saturation of sewage collectors, which can cause wastewater discharges into our rivers or beaches.

According to various studies in the sector, it is estimated that traffic jams caused by wipes in sanitation infrastructure generate an extra cost of between 230 and 240 million euros per year.
