Ex-Huracán Gabrielle, already transformed into extroatropical storm, will mark the pace of the weekend in Spain with a time dominated by instability and contrasts. The first notice will be given by the Peninsular Northwest, where the heavens will tend to cover themselves progressively and the rains will become protagonists, especially in Galicia, with frequent showers and occasional storms that can be intensified at the end of the day. These rainfall will also be extended to other points of the peninsular western end, as a prelude to the most active passage of Borrasca.
The front associated with Gabrielle will not remain in the Atlantic. As Peninsular Advance progresses, it will leave abundant cloudiness in large areas of the Peninsula and Balearic Islands, interspersing clear and calm times with scattered showers. Instability will be noticed with special force in the northeast: In the second half of the day locally intense storms are expected In Catalonia, north of the Valencian Community and East of Aragon, which could be accompanied by hail. In the Balearic Islands, the door will also open to rainfall, first weaker and more occasional and then, at the end of the day, with the possibility of more intense chaparrons.
In the peninsular south, the impact will translate into cloudy skies and rains in the southwest quadrant, especially in Western Andalusia, where significant accumulated and promptly strong episodes are not ruled out. Extremadura could be affected to a lesser extent, with more isolated showers. The Western Cantabrian, meanwhile, will record weaker but persistent rainfall. The Canary Islands will remain in a secondary role: little cloudy skies in the south, cloudiness in the north and some punctual drizzle, with the moderate smoothing blowing in exposed areas.
Temperatures will also reflect change. The west and the southern peninsular will experience descents, even notable in areas of Extremadura and Andalusia Western, while the Eastern Cantabrian will become the great contrast, with locally high maxims that will remember the summer. In the Canary Islands, Galicia and the northwest of Castilla y León a rebound is also expected, while moderate descents will predominate in the rest. The minimums will rise in much of the country, softening the nights, except in specific areas of southern Galicia and northern Catalonia.
The wind will be another leading actor: will blow strongly in Galicia and Atlantic coastlines for Gabrielle’s thrustwith strong intervals in the Strait and Alborán under regime of west. In the Cantabrian the winds of the east will predominate, while inside and west will be imposed, reinforcing during the afternoon on the northern plateau and the central system.
Thus, Gabrielle promises a clear weekend: abundant rains in the west, anomalous heat in the Eastern Cantabrian and risk of hail storms in the northeast. A scenario of the meteorological autumn, but with the extra energy of an Atlantic cyclone that, although weakened, continues to mark the beat.
