The majority union in the National Police, JUPOLhas reiterated its demand for the immediate resignation of the Government delegate in Madrid, Francisco Martinwhich he accuses of putting the safety of agents and public officials at risk due to a serious lack of foresight and operational instructions. Given the institutional blockade, the organization has confirmed that its legal services are studying the legal route to act against the Delegation if the resignation of its top person does not occur.
According to JUPOL spokesperson, Ibón Domínguez, the police force is working “blindly” in the face of mobilizations and disturbances in the capital. “With the excuse of the elections They have said that they are in office and that they are not. The most senior comrades and senior officers of the UIP and the National Police have never seen him, because There have been many electoral periods and they have never stopped reporting“, denounces the spokesperson.
The investigation by the Complutense, “without progress” or statements
One of the points of greatest friction between the police representation and the Government lies in the action carried out on October 14 at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) during the educational strike. After the clashes between the Police and the information pickets, which resulted in five detainees and several injuries, the Government delegate described the intervention as “unacceptable” and disproportionate, announcing a prior internal investigation to determine disciplinary responsibilities.
Ibón Domínguez provides the context prior to the police intervention: “They happened after a while without they heeding the instructions to clear the street and let people pass,” explains the JUPOL spokesperson, pointing out that the action was “in the end the inevitable” in the face of repeated non-compliance with the orders of the agents on the ground.
However, JUPOL points out that this confidential investigation does not register any progress. Sources from the organization confirm that, to date, no UIP agent involved in the device has been summoned to testify nor has received any notification about the process. From the union they accuse Francisco Martín of “publicly disavow” to the troops and to use them as a “shield” to evade political responsibilities due to the absence of planning.
Security failures in the Ayuso escrache and traffic cuts
The reported lack of coordination had its latest episode in the incidents recorded during the teacher protests. In it Santoña Palacethe regional president, Isabel Diaz Ayusoremained for more than half an hour waiting for reinforcements from the UIP due to the presence of protesters in the vicinity. At first, the device fell on the Prevention and Reaction Unit (UPR)which was overwhelmed until UIP troops from another unauthorized traffic block on the A-3 could move.
That same morning, the Minister of Education, Mercedes Zarzalejowas forced to suspend her attendance at a center in Vallecas Bridge since the minimum security conditions cannot be guaranteed. JUPOL highlights that the obligation to reorganize units at the last minute increases the pressure on the police and puts at risk both the physical integrity of the Security Forces and Corps and that of the institutional authorities.
A “pattern of abandonment” in the capital
From JUPOL they maintain that these events are not isolated, but are part of a systematic pattern of institutional lack of protection. “It rains in the wet, because it is the same case as that of Puerta del Sol, which authorizes camping without having been requested at any time, or the same as the end of the Vuelta a España, which had to be canceled due to another political interest,” concludes the spokesperson.
