David Bustamante, singer, about his grandparents’ generation: “It is the one that has given us the quality of life we have today and, sometimes, we do everything to destroy it”

Tonight David Bustamante, the Spanish singer and composer who rose to fame with the first edition of the Operación Triunfo program, will come to have fun with ‘El Hormiguero’. An edition in which other talents also appeared, such as David Bisbal, who attended Pablo Motos’ program last week. Like his professional colleague, the Cantabrian will take advantage of his visit to talk about his new musical projects and his professional careermarked by the values she learned from her family.

The singer, known for timeless songs like ‘Two Men and a Destiny’ or ‘Devueltame la vida’, has decided to distance himself slightly from his career as a composer to get into musical theater. Specifically, Bustamante will take to the stage again, this time at the Teatro La Latina in Madrid, with the play ‘El Zorro’. A work whose characters are based on the novels by Johnston McCulley from 1919 and by Isabel Allende from 2005.

David Bustamante, 43, will play the role of Don Diego de la Vega, considered one of the first fictional heroes of modern culture. A project that he faces with great enthusiasm, as he stated in the presentation of the musical and as stated in “Hello,” “It is a gift to be able to play this character, he is one of the great superheroes. “I didn’t know when I was going to do a musical again, but I knew it had to be something very special and this is going to be it.”

The singer always keeps in mind the example of his grandparents

The play arrives at the Madrid theater on November 25. However, behind her there are long months of training and rehearsals, in which the singer claimed to feel like he did when he was 19 years old again and decided to leave his town, San Vicente de la Barquera, to follow his dream of being a singer. “I have fought a lot to be where I am. It is not easy to be so many years“That’s why I thank all of you who have been with me for so long and who accompany me on projects as beautiful as this one,” he said in the presentation.

A dissatisfied spirit capable of facing new challenges that go outside its comfort zone, “to continue growing as an artist and as a human being,” he explained. A mentality that he learned directly from his family and, specifically, from his grandparents, as he explained in the program ‘The Road to Home’, presented by Albert Espinosa on “La Sexta”. During the recording, the presenter decided to play a video in which his excited and proud grandparents could be seen devoting some warm words to him. Images that brought tears of both happiness and sadness.

A lesson that he seeks to teach both his daughter and the new generations

As he explained, he is very aware of the figure of his deceased grandparents, whom he defines as authentic fighters. “They didn’t have enough shoes and eight brothers slept on a mattress on the floor. They didn’t have all the meals, they were malnourished and That generation is the one that has given us the quality of life that we have today and that, sometimes, we do everything to destroy it“, he explained in the program. That is why in raising his daughter he has always wanted to focus on instilling in her that gratitude towards previous generations.

“It has been a generation that, many times I try to transmit it to my daughter, I don’t want to insult her, but You have to understand things because we are privileged. Not her anymore, I have been privileged,” he said on Espinosa’s program. Well, thanks to the sacrifices they made and their support, the Cantabrian had the opportunities to pursue his dreams as a professional singer.

David Bustamante defines his grandparents as the “true heroes”

However, this has not been the only mention of his grandparents that he has made on television. He also took advantage of his participation in the program “MasterChef Celebrity” to remember the figure of his paternal grandfather, whom everyone knew as ‘El Rosalio’, for being the son of ‘La Rosalía’. As he explained, it was “a person who suffered a lot, who had to go to work when he was 8 or 9 years old at sea” and defined his generation as the “true heroes”, from whom both young people and adults have a lot to learn.

Now, the singer has the opportunity to star in a new musical in Madrid, after his success in ‘Ghost’. A project that, although it seems complex and makes him leave his comfort zone, he did not hesitate to embark on. Because, as he learned from his grandparents, “That’s what life is about, when you put yourself to the test, life is much more interesting” picks up “Hola.” ‘El Zorro, el musical’ will premiere at the Teatro La Latina on November 25 but, to attract all the undecided, David Bustamante will go to ‘El Hormiguero’ tonight to present it.
